F 0 O T B A L L H I G H L I C H T 8 O F '5 l The Panora Bluejays, back with a loss of two outstanding graduates, but with s new coach, Mr. Mills, were full of spirit. Leaving behind one of the poorest seasons in history, the Bluejays were looking forward to a success- ful season. with these high hopes in mind, thirty-six hopeful Bluejays started to prepare for their first game with the powerful team from Exlra, which was three weeks away. When the time came to begin the playing season, the Bluejays fought--they were small in size, but immense in determination. Panora got off to a flying start scoring first, later in the game they found that their weak passing defense and weight disadvantage was the deciding factor in the game. The following week the local eleven had a better pass defense and more drive and were anxious to win their first conference game. In an incessant rain the Bluejays pushed the heavier Adel team all over the field for a 12-O score. The Bluejays, now with more confidence and experience, took wins over Dexter and Dallas Center with heavy scores. Then came the hard-running, charging Earlham team. Scoring on the first play, they got their hands on the ball and went on to win by five touchdowns. With the homecoming game coming up and the continued hope of ranking high in the conference, the Bluejaye were not broken by their late defeat. The following week they came back and beat a hard charging Redfield by a score of 6-O. Then came the last conference game with the Stuart Dragons, who beat a hard-fought game by one touchdown. After that, games were lost to ncn-conference Scranton and Guthrie Center who outweighed the local eleven considerably. Panora ended third in the conference with 4 wins and 2 losses and for a total season's record of 4 wins and 5 losses. Individual honors went to Keith Trent, All Conference End, Jim Dahlke, All Conference Back and also placed on Jack North's honor roll, Gary Haddick, All Conference Center, Harold Marshman, All Conference Tackle. lqle Rey- nolds, end, John Maddick, guard, and Edward Dudley, back, were named on the All Conference Honor Roll.
