Clarendon, October 9 The Clarendon Bronchso bucked but couldn't shake the Panhandle Panthers. Gene Bentley scored 19 of the Panther's points. Gary Cummings took the other seven. On the first offensive play, Panther fullback Bentley, scamper- ed around right end 54-yards for a touchdown. He converted, and also made a touchdown in the second quarter. Early in the third quarter Dale Roselius faked a handoff to Cum- mings, then gave the ball to Bent- ley, who ran the remaining 7 yards to score. Clarendon made a lone TD ir1 the fourth period by a 15-yard pass play. Cummings scored the final counter by a one-yard plunge and kicked the extra point. Thus, the Panthers defeated Clarendon 26-6. Panhandle, October 16 McLean's single-wing formation baffled the Panhandle boys good enough for the Tigers to overhaul the Panthers 39 to 6 before a crowd of awe-stricken Panther fans and exultant Tiger supporters. It was the first district defeat for Panhandle. The lone Panther TD was made by Gene Bentley, fullback. He scored in the second quarter on a line plunge. In the fourth quarter, the Pan- thers became desperate and took to the air, but completed only 5 of 19 attempts. Lefors, October 23 The Panhandle Panthers de- feated the Lefors Pirates 35-7 ir1 a conference game. Late in the second quarter the Panthers received a safety when the Pirates tried a punt behind their goal line and the ball handler was tackled. Bentley again ran the ball over to score. Cummings kicked the point. Half-time score was Panhandle 23, Lefors 0. Panther reserves played a large part of the second half. ln a running play Bentley scoredg the conversion was no good. Cummings made a fancy interception of a Pirate pass and rambled 35 yards to a touchdown. The Pirates' only score was made late in the fourth quarter. Lefors' try for the extra point was also good. A stand-out play of the game was a one-handed pass catch by Panther end, Dean Phillips. Panhandle, November 6 The Canadian Wildcats slid by the Panhandle Panthers by two touchdowns on a muddy, foggy field. The homecoming Panther fans were glad of the radio announcer, as most sat in the cars arotmd the playing area. Aiding the Wildcats were four Panther fumbles in the first half. The Panthers' only touchdown was made early in the third quarter when Gene Bentley ran 30 yards on an end run to score.
