'Twould take too long for me to tell All the strange adventures that befell Our gallant class ere we attained The lofty heights that now we're gained. We're cultured, really most polite And very, very erudite. Our store of knowledge is so great We fear lest we confuse it. But when we take our place in life We'll have a chance to use it. We have, although a trifle checkered, A most extraordinary record! THE RE CORD In the fall of 1940 Mrs. Katy Lou Turpin started 7 of the present class of 32 with the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arith- metic. The lucky 7 were Paul Carol, Dotty Broadaway, Curtis Metcalf, Odessie Newton, Leroy Beiderwell, Doris Metcalf, and Walter Martin. Miss Mary Ewing tutored the group in '41, with the addition of Frances Kirk, from Sher- man. Mrs.Clara Cornelius, third grade teacher, had to struggle with new boys, Allen Kirk, Sherman, and Raymond Stephenson, Conway. Miss Neta Beth Higgins, fourthgrade teacher, had the group withthe addition of Jewell fWalker1 Beasore and BillietHarbison1 Hcnry, transfers fron Conway. Fifth graders were taught by Mrs. Anna Ruth Reed, David Moore of Pleasant Plains was a new pupil. Home room teacher in '46 was Mrs. Jeffie Feaster. Allene Stovall, White Deer and Delmer and Elmer Tuggle, Hedley, were added to the class. Jimmy Naylor and Juanita Armstrong, Con- way, and Bobby Tucker, Wescar Camp, joined the group being taught by Tom McCauley in '47. J.L. Naylor was instructor in '49. Joe Wood, Arizona, and Floyd Leven, Amarillo, were new. Graduation exercises May Z1 put the class of '52 into high school. Mrs. Oliver Jelks sponsored the freshmen. Opal Raef, St. Francis, was new to the group Class motto was Dumb But Happy . il .L Mr Howard Amlck presents Bruce Johnson wxth the Valedxctorlan Opal Raef Salutatorxan recemves her awards from Mr Amlck awards i E.
