TheGroup was coached in the elen of reading and writing by Mrs. Katy Lou Turpin, The class skipped the second grade because that was the year that a grade was added t Texas Schools. Jim Bonner joined th e group which was c o a c he d by Mrs. Garner. B1llS left to go to Amarillo. During their fourth g r ad e they were joined by Norma P a r r is h, Rossie Lyles and M Williams, Nettie Beth Higgins was the teacher. In the fifth grade, taught by Miss Juanita Campbell, Nit a Walker, Daniel Homen and L Murray joined the group. The sixth grade instructor was Mrs, Jeffie Feaster. No additions were made this year Seventh graders Ke-r n Granstaff and Floyd Detten 1 oined the group ranks, headed by Sharp, Juanita Mitchell joined Mrs. Spicer Gripp's eighth grade. A formal banquet w a s the y highlight, with Kellus Tunner, Supt,, main speaker, and Kern Granstaff master of ceremo As freshmen, the class gained Beryl Lee, Henry Leven, and Gerald Meroney. Sponsor Howard Amick, and later Doyal Chrisman. Kern Granstaff was elected class president Sophomores were sponsored by John Cowang Kern Granstaff was chosen for his second as president. The class won the football queen race, making Christine Cummings 1948 Pax Queen. Gloria Young Jim Howard Ronald Beasore Peggy Phillips Corkey Phillips and Eliz When Pantex' youngsters came to Panhandle, a big increase was noted in the Junior class I Mitchell came from there, Other additions were Shirley Pendergrass, Albert Jones and Lee Bednorz. Bill Slater returned from Amarillo. John Cowan was again chosen sponsor Seniors added Anna Lou McClure and Leonard Mosley, Mable Hare and Alvis Tabor co-sponsors for the graduating group.
