One that holds fond memories for all. Your achievements have been deter,- mined by your willingness to work toward a distant goal and your de- serving of the highest praise. The year has provided an opportunity for each of you to gain new friends, and to enrich our friendship with the classmates of other years. When time fades the memory of present events, may this book serve to recall to mind the days spent in pleasant associations here at Pan- handle High School. Ihope that your school will ever command your high- est respect and loyalty. Sincerely yours, Zfmwefzwgff 'l' he Student Body, I think that it is very fitting and proper at this tirne to congratulate the annual staff for their splendid work on the 1949-50 yearbook. If a person has a right to be proud of anything, it is a job well done. The keen interest and zeal of the Panhandle School student body, as you have attempted to grasp and comprehend each daily lesson, has been an inspiration to me. lt is my wish that your success and happiness may be all that you desire. My work this year has cer- tainly been made pleasant by your excellent cooperation. SUMMARY OF' 1949-1950 PANTHER SEASON Coached by two capable rnen, John Cowan and Boyd Williams, the Panhandle Panther football team of 1949-1950 terminated the season's victories and losses with a traditional White Deer-Panhandle game which ended as a loss for the Panthers with a score of 14-6. The Bucks copped the championship trophyas Panhandle dropped into second place. Outstanding game of the year, in the opinion of players and coaches alike, was played at Wheeler. Tied 20-20 at its end, this exciting gridiron battle was won by Panhandle through penetrations and first downs, Local morale sank to its lowest when Bill Slater was named ineligible, following the Wheeler game. Final decision declared Bill eligible as were players on several other teams who came under the ruling.
