Spirit week began with Fifties Day on Monday, Dress-up Day on Tuesday, Punk Day on Wednesday, Nerd Day on Thursday, and ending with Spirit Day on Friday. Many other special activities took place throughout the week. The Class Competitions, the Spirit Hoop, and the bonfire took place on Thursday evening. The Junior Class won the Spirit Stick, which was announced at the successful pep rally held on Friday. The Seniors won the Spirit Hoop and the gym competition. The King and Queen were crowned Friday night before the game, while the “Rockets” won in an exciting match over Vanlue (48-6). As the Homecoming Court reigned over the dance held Saturday night, and the students danced to the music of The System”, the Homecoming theme ”THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT” became a reality. 3 JUNIOR - SENIOR PROM PROM 1988 6 PROM 1988 7 SENIORS OUR FEATURE PRESENTATION_ RATED PG-13 8 SENIOR SPIRIT Yes, I'm a farmer! Yoshiko left behind in Japan: her father, Kimiaki; her mother, Teiko; her younger brother, Yoshiaki; and her cat and goldfish. She is anxious to get back and see them all. She enjoys playing tennis, volleyball, and softball. She also likes going out with both guys and girls. The highlight of her stay here was the 1988 Junior-Senior Prom. She enjoyed it most because it was the first prom she’s ever been to and will never have the chance to go again. At first the language and some of our customs were difficult for her to become used to. However, towards the end of her stay, Yoshiko was able to fit into the community quite well. The things Yoshiko will miss the most when she leaves, is her host family (the Jennings), friends, American customs, and her school teachers. 15 I can’t remember how to spell my name. He did it because he loved doing it. It was one of his ways of being able to serve and help out. He said he had the best kids in the world on his bus. He knew personally every student on his bus and loved them all. He not only helped them with their lessons, but he helped them learn to get along with one another. His bus of kids was one big happy family. He never failed to greet each child with a cheery greeting in the morning and said something personal to each one as they left the bus at night. Then he followed their lives — even years later. He will be sorely missed, not only by his family and the community, but also by the students of the Pandora-Gilboa School System. 52 mee mee Mommy come get me. The real won-loss record of learning about right from wrong, pride, self-esteem and team unity will be known in the future by the success of the team members. Six new records were set by players of the 1987 football team. Nathan Sprungerset a school rushing record of 1,373 yards and the second year for over 1,000 yards. Tim Basinger the fourth leading receiver and tied for third with touchdowns passes scored with 4. Jamie Stall third all time passing with 668 yards and tied for second for touchdown passes of 9. Experience helped and the athletes were better able to handle the pressure. The final record was 11 wins and 9 losses. One of the high points was the third place finish in the Bluffton Inv. in which we set a school record for an 18 hole match with a 316. Several other school records were also set during the season. The success of a winning record in the second year made for a much better situation for the team than the first year of competition. The team gathered several other firsts by winning Districts, reaching the Regional Semi-Finals, and winning the B.V.C. for the third consecutive year. This team was picked to finish 7th in the BVC and last in the PCL in the Pre-season Polls. It proved that these predictions were very wrong. Pandora-Gilboa won the BVC Championship with a 7 - 2 league mark. This was only the second title for the boys’ in 36 years. They won the sectional title with a 58 — 51 victory over Van Buren — only the fourth in 36 years and advanced to the district finals before falling to Liberty Benton. 43 - 46 in overtime. This is the first time that a boys' team had gotten to the district championship game since the two schools had consolidated in 1952. The team finished with a 4 - 3 record in the PCL — again only the fourth winning season in the league since 1952. The 15 games won is the record for most victories in a season. As you can see in the picture at the left, this year's staff was quite a crew to contend with. With a great deal of last minute rushing around, things finally got done. A big THANK-YOU to those Staffers (Lori, Teresa, Jill, Jodi, Leah, and Teresa) who helped do the work of others. Thanks also to Mr. Stall, and our yearbook rep. - LOU S. - for all of your help. This year’s book has a little bit different look to it. We hope you the readers like it. We look forward to your continued support in the future.
