Spirit week began with Nerd Day on Monday, followed by Dress-up on Tuesday, Fifties Day on Wednesday, Punk Day on Thursday, and ending with Spirit Day on Friday. Many other special activities took place throughout the week. The Annual Homecoming Parade, Class Competitions, and the burning of the “Redskins” Dummy at the bonfire took place on Thursday evening. The Juniors won the Class Competition and the Best Spirit Plaque. The Seniors and the Sophomores tied for the Spirit Stick, which was announced at the successful pep rally held on Friday. The King and Queen were crowned later that night at the game, while the “Rockets” won in an exciting match over Arcadia (21-14). As the Homecoming court reigned over the dance held Saturday night, and the students danced to the music of “Jan Miller, D.J.”, the Homecoming theme “A NIGHT IN HEAVEN” became a reality. Mel Heit-meyer and his students should be commended for their efforts! MIRROR STAFF Hurry up and take the picture Doug. With a group composed of one veteran and eight rookies, the 1984-85 Mirror had their work cut out for them in preparing this year’s school annual. The first big task was raising money, as we sold books, advertisements, Senior shirts, calendars, cookie tins, spices, brass, and we sponsored the third annual Halloween and Spring dances. In September we attended a Josten’s Yearbook workshop which was very educational for the nine staff members. With five Juniors on this year’s staff, we should have another excellent publication next year. Kathy, our team’s the one in RED! 1 can’t believe Gary swallowed the whole camera! I wish Kathy would remember to put film in the camera the next time. 27 L to R; Gary Ruebush, Shelly Morris, Lisa Stall, Judy Criblez, Sandy Bunch, Advisor Mr. Matter, Lynn Schulte, Jodi Etter, Kathy Coughlan, Doug Diller STUDENT COUNCIL L to R; First Row: Jenny Bauman, Amy Basinger, Tim Gerdeman, Troy Hashbarger, Advisor Mr. Shick; Second Row: Renee Zimmerly, Kim Steffen, Ed Bauman, Rick Bunch, Jamie Stall; Third Row: Tracy Cottle, Deb Blaski, Roxanne Zimmerly, Laura Zimmerly, Doug Hunt, Shelly Alt, Lisa Lugibihl; Fourth Row: Dana Dukes, Jim Larcom, Denise Diller, Troy Morris, Cheryl Wenger OFFICERS President — Shelly Alt Vice-President — Denise Diller Secretary — Deb Blaski Treasurer — Troy Morris The beginning of the 1984-85 school year was a busy time for the student council as officers were elected and plans were made for a successful Homecoming week. The parade, bonfire, gym contests, coronation, and dance with music by “D.J., Jan Miller” were all part of our efforts. Plans for this year include an “End of Semester” dance in January, an assembly in February, selling carnations for Muscular Dystrophy in March, and the Olympic Field Day in May. 28 Advisor — Mr. Shick Projectionists First Row L to R: Troy Hashbarger, Jim Siefer, Patti Larcom, Tony Okuley, Matt Kinsinger; Second Row: Mark Yant, Troy Morris, Tracy Cottle, Kathy Long. The Pandora-Gilboa French Club (Le Cercle Francais du Lycee Pandora-Gilboa) existed as a club until the 1975-76 school year. At that time, the club entered a dormant stage until the 1983-84 school year when French classes were reinstituted into the high school curriculum. The constitution of Le Cercle Francais Internationale states that the goals of it’s members are to study the language, to promote French culture, and to keep it’s members well-informed of the latest news of France and its colonies. A gym floor committee was organized to raise funds for the construction of the new floor. They solicited donations from both individuals and businesses throughout the school district. The floor was completed just before graduation, with the art work being done by P-G art teacher, Mark Williams. The new floor was covered during graduation exercises so that it would not be scratched. Come out next year to Volleyball and Basketball games to see this new addition to our school. All parties involved in getting this new floor can be very proud of it. P-G welcomes Miss Mary Jane Adler as the new Chapter I Reading teacher. She replaced Mrs. Linda Graves who accepted the position of Elementary Supervisor for Putnam County Schools. We welcome M iss Adler and wish Good Luck to Mrs. Graves in her new job. The Seniors have graduated, this years Juniors are already plotting their strategy for ruling P-G next year, the underclassmen are into enjoying their summer vacation, the teachers are recovering from the hectic final weeks of school, and I’m here finishing the yearbook with a few staff members who had some last minute work to do yet. We have once again tried to capture the essence of our school system on paper, both in words and pictures. A school yearbook is really a history book that one can look at and conjure up memories from school years gone by. We try to do the best job that we can in recording our school system’s history, but we also realize that we are going to make some mistakes along the way. It is my hope that when you look back at your school annual that you keep in mind that the book was put together by students. We are not professional journalists or photographers. We do the best work that we know how to do and we hope you enjoy the finished product. I hope that you take time to reflect on all the memories that are contained within this book. I want to thank the MIRROR Staff for their hard work, Mr. Lou Seddelmeyer — our Jostens’ Representative for his advice and help this year, Mr. Mark Stall for all his support of our program, and finally you the readers for your continued support of the MIRROR. Without you we would not exist. We are all part of a great School System composed of great Administrators, Teachers, Parents, and most of all, great Students. Thank you all once again for your continued support and we hope to see all of you in the MIRROR. RON MATTER Advisor 141 143 144 I’m just a gigolo . . .
