Its members were en- gaged in many of the activities of the school such as F. F. A.. F. H. A., Band, Glee, and Chorus. We also had some money raising schemes such as collecting tax stamps and concessions at ball games. Our class play, We Shook the Family Tree , was given the night of December 1, 1948. The play. ably dir- ected by Mrs. McKanna and Mr. Hall. was enjoyed by the entire audience. The Junior Senior Banquet was held on the night of May 7. in the High School Auditorium. The banquet and the program which followed were enjoyed by all in at- tendanee. Page 19 CLASS OF '5I President 7,,7....... ,7 7,,, Vice President Secretary ,...,,,, Treasurer .... This play centered around Hildegarde Dolson who entered a de- bate hoping to make a hit and thereby land a date for the Junior-Senior Prom. The topic of the debate was 'Should We Return to Prohibition , and during the course of her talk. Hildegarde gave everybody the mis- taken impression that her father was a drunkard. The talk circulated around town that Mr. Dolson was a drunkard and thus it got to the ears of Mr. Sher- mer, her father's boss. Quite a rumpus was raised by Mr. Shermer especially when he and his wife came over for tea and found the front yard crawling with worms, as the result of Jimmiels electric wormer, and when Bob came charging downtsairs in his shorts, and tack'ed Mr. Shermer whom he mistook for Freddie. It all came out well and it was a riot of fun while it lasted. The play was directed by Mrs, McKanna and Mr. Hall. SEATED: Hildegarde tt,c, Sally .s,,..,,,,,., Bobby ,.c, Jimmy ,.,,,,.s,... .. The play centers around Bob Baxter, who is in lovc with Jane, the girl of his dreams. Jane's father made an eccentric will instructing Jane to marry Benjamin Moore, a bachelor of 40, who had once saved his life. Moore was quite willing to carry out the conditions of the will, as was also, Jane's uncle, William Winkler. However, since Jane was in love with Bob, she had ideas quite to the contrary. Winkler took Jane, her aunt, and the maid to the Halcyon House, determined to force Jane to marry Moore. Winkler was in love with Kitty, a well known actress. Bob told aunt Jane about Winkler and Kitty but Winkler, by a lucky stroke, spiked his guns and get even things so left Bob holding the bag. Bob, attempting to with Winkler, impersonated Kitty and made hot for Winkler that he finally agreed to the wedding, and all ended happily. The play was directed by Mrs. McKanna McKinney. and Mr. Page SCHOLARSHIP TEAM FIRST ROW: Joanne Steiner, Carla Schumacher, Beverly Schutz, Carol Krohn, Margaret Hart, Miriam Bas- inger, Shirley Hauenstein. The Scholarship Team of Pandora High School is an organization of which little is known. The number in the team varies between thirteen and fourteen members who are representatives of the upper four grades. The Scholarship Team traveled to Bowling Green on May 7, where its members matched their talents with the talents of the representatives of the other schools in the state of Ohio. Usually several of our students rank in the upper ten per cent of the state. Not much is heard of our Scholarship Team and the students do not get nearly enough credit for the great amount of hard work they put into their job in the form of study. We all hope that in the future this team may receive as much rec ognition as the other organizations in the school, Page 38 CAMERA CLUB l'he Camera club is a newly formed organization in Pandora High School this year. The pur- of this club is to learn how to take good pictures, to learn to develope our own negatives, and arn to print our own pictures. This club meets every other week and individuals of the club come to the dark room when- they have negatives to develope or pictures to print. We hope to learn from other's experience to help others profit from our own mistakes. is our aim that each member shall have made at least one good print for the spring exhibit. Lady Jane, relates the sad news that Bunthorne is in love with Patience. Patience, knowing nothing of his love, tells the maidens to stop their sighing and return to the Dragoon Guards. However, the maidens are so entranced by Bunthorne that they pay no attention to the Guards. Patience, believing it is her duty to fall in love ,meets Grosvenor who is so attractive that all fall in love with him. Grosvenor and Patience confess their love for each other but Patience then remembers that true love must have some sacrifices and since they find no fault in each other they separate. Meanwhile Bunthorne decides to hold a lottery to decide which of the young maidens shall become his bride. In the midst of the drawing, Patience appears and reveals her intention to marry Bunthorne, Grosvenor, frightened into obeying Bunthorne's decree that he abandon all symptoms of estheticism, appears as a Natural and matter of fact young man. All the maidens follow suit and return to their faithful admirers, the Dragoon Guards. Patience returns to Grosvenor, leaving Bunthorne without a bride. The Band had a full calendar of events. It prepared formations for fall and winter athletic games, partici- pated in the Fall Festival, at Ottawa and in December, had the honor of playing at the dedication service of the Russel Plant. This year the band had two little mascots, Judy And- erson and Max Cook, who did much to enhance the appearance of the band. Page 49 FOOTBALL A l l Coach Hall, known to many as f'Shelly , was the mentor of the football squad. Coaches Hall and Strahm instilled in the players a respect for fair play and sports- manship and also the will to play a good wholesome game. Certainly anyone who saw all the games saw some good football played by the 1948 Fleetwings. The team's efforts to choose an honorary Captain for the season resulted in a three way tie among Jim Kiene, Owen Etter, and Gene Suter. This being his first year, we Wish the fellows could have given him a better win and loss record. But, as we all know, it is not win- ning the game that counts. Learning the rules of sportsmanship and fair play, and learning to do one's best are far more valu- able than top scores. Certainly we have therefore been afforded an excellent opport- unity.
