Hundreds of people have studied, played, laughed, and sang to- gether in these halls. We do not have pictures of nearly all of them, nor do we know what has beco.me of many, but we feel certain everyone-young and old will enjoy looking at a few groups of by-gone high school days. PROPHECY Up in the A's is Amstutz Tall, lanky, and red We End him a bachelor and a dairyman Just as he always said. Next in the A's is Augsburger He is father, now, to seven Donna helps him on his farm To Clyde it seems like heaven. Al Basinger is an implement man He sells everything in his store A, Basinger and Sons is what the sign says Hanging over his door. Dick Basinger was in the service But now he is settled down He joined his dad in the greenhouse Right here in the old home town. Wally is still in a grocery store But it's a different one He owns and operates it And calls it Wally and Son, Neil was careful but not careful enough His wife still calls him honey We aren't sure who is the head of the house But at farming they save their money. Barbara and Anna were very successful They own a flourishing bakeshop Neatness and care are easy to see And cheerfulness rings to the housetop. Two of the girls in the First National Bank Appear as if they were related It looks to me like the Burkholder girls As employees they're regularly slated. If you would like to buy a new car Or your present one refuses to run Take it to Cook and Davies' Repairs To have your repair work done. Jeany did just what we thought she would She married a fellow named Russel She is just as cute as she ever was And he still has his chest and his muscle. Mark and Lois make a handsome pair They prospered down through the years Mark went into his father's trade They have seen happiness, toil, and tears. Elizabeth and Mary are right on the ball Have a business to take up their time They are the owners of a drycleaners shop I predict to success they will climb. Betty was given a place in our Congress The things she opposes she fights She is doing her best for the good of the people She is conscious of duties and right. June and Wanita have a worthy occupation They have chosen a good and worthwhile work They are both of them nurses and they scour Out places where germs and bacteria might lurk. Wally Geiger was as lucky as any His wife and his family fill him with joy He is a farmer mechanic and very good at it A motor to him is naught but a toy. Don Gratz is a soldier of fortune His colleague is Robert L. Steiner The things that they tell-the things they have seen Their experiences could hardly be Finer. Now we have two private secretaries From the class of 1946 They are Genevieve and Gloria Out of life they get their kicks. Ken Hauenstein is a farmer Who raised corn and oats and things He makes a living on God's good earth And lives life for the joy it brings. Dr. Dick Hilty is a scientist With test tubes, bottles, and tests On the lists of famous people He is one of the honored guests. Kate and Gladys are willing homemakers Who add to the communlty's good If there's something they could do for family or Friendship: if you ask them I'm sure that they would. Journalism has claimed one of our number It's Ellen with opinions all her own She has a column in a daily paper Where she makes her respected opinions known. Dwight Lefty Steiner followed his father He dips in the bucket and smears on the paint He does his work quite well And has never received a complaint. Don Steiner is just a common dirt farmer Who raised potatoes to keep up his farm He got him a good wife To keep him from harm. CContinued on page 153 Barbara Bauman Music F. H. A. S. last fall with an enrollment of thirty. We gained one new pupil during the year but, sorry to say, we're losing five this spring. For our class officers we elected: President-Mary Margaret Soldner, Vice-President-Nolan Diller, Secretary-Carolyn Gratz, Treasur- er-Jeanne Kiene. In the past year we've contributed as best we could to the sports, cheerleading, music, and scholarship of our school, and hope to con- tinue doing so in our remaining years in P. H. S. V V V Our class has experienced many happy events but none was quite as joyous as the entering into our Freshman year of high school. We immedi- ately chose class officers: President-Gene Suter, Vice-President-Roy Schutz, Secretary-Treasurer-Donna Basinger. Since each class is allowed three parties a year, we used our best judgment in choosing when we were to have them. They consisted of a Halloween party, one at Christmas, and a Wiener roast this spring. This year has given us a good start on our high school career. EER LEADE Ann Geiger and Carolyn Gratz D .9 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE STRONG The Fleetwings came through the season with a record of 5 games won, 3 games lost and 1 game tied. Outscoring their opponents 155 points to 71, they came through the season averaging 17.2 points to the opposition's 7.9 per game. Among the highlights of the season was Pandorais victory at Bluffton for the first time. After allowing Genoa a 13 point lead in the first 3 minutes of play the Fleetwings came roaring back to deadlock with a 13-13 score. However, Genoa went through the season undefeated and was ranked as one of the stronger teams in the state in Class B competition. Another highlight of the season was the scoring record set against Leipsic 84-0. By defeating Columbus Grove twice, the Fleetwings annexed the football trophy that was awarded the winner with the best record out of the two series with Columbus Grove. When the Fleetwings went down to defeat they took it on the chin and came back stronger the next time with the will and desire to win. BASKETBALL VARSITY 1945-46 Pandora, after staying with Ottoville most of the game, lost out in the final minutes of play 34-29. The Fleetwings journeyed to Kalida and handed their team a 45-30 lacing for our first win of the season. Pandora, after leading all of the way, handed Vaughnsville a 39-30 beating. The Fleetwings staged an uphill fight all the way with the final minutes giving them victory over Ottawa Public 37-29. We treked to Grove and defeated our old rival 37-23. Pandora closed its pre-holiday s e a s o n with a 58-38 Win over Glandorf. This gave the Fleetwings a rec- ord of 5 wins and 1 loss before Christmas. Without the service of Don Gratz the Fleet- wings, offensive power was hurt considerably and we went down in defeat to Ft. Jennings 49-34. The Fleetwings still handicapped to some extent, lost out to a Coach C. C. Cox fast Elida team 59-30. Leading all the way, Pandora downed Leipsic 37-23. With both teams playing even ball most of the Way, the Fleetwings finally won out over Blanchard 37-34. In what most observers termed as an off night, we were defeated by Columbus Grove 34-33. Playing on even terms most of the game, the Fleetwings lost out in the last quarter due to a Parochial rally. The final score was Ottawa Parochial 49-Pandora 43. The Fleetwings snapped out of their losing streak by defeating the county league leaders, Miller City, 34-28. Encountering an old rival, the local lads went all out to gain a well earned victory over Bluffton 31-28. It marked one of the Fleetwings best performances of the year. After a slow start, we started a rally that never was relinquished to win handily from Ottawa Public 51-23. In the last minute of play we lost our final league game of the year to Continental 36-35. This gave the Fleetwings a season's record of ll games won and 5 games lost. In tournament play Pandora lost to a hard fighting Blanchard team 42-30. Our oppo- nents made an exceptionally high percentage of their shots. So ended the 1945-46 basket- ball season for Pandora under the capable coaching of Superintendent C. C. Cox. RESERVES JR.HIGHB.B. The Fleetwings have downed Leipsic 18-6 and Ottawa Public 15-12 in league play, however, they have Ottawa, St. Peter and Paul, Blanchard and Col. Grove remaining on the schedule for the Eastern Division of the county in league play. In non-league play, Pandora downed Col. Grove 10-1, Blanchard 2-1, and lost out to Kalida 6-3. With veterans back in practically every position this should prove a winning and enjoyable season for the Fleetwings. 32 TRACK - GIRLS' SPORTS First Row left to right: Roger Diller, Kenneth Hauenstein, Mark Diller, Clyde Augsburger, Owen Etter. The club's pur- pose is to face life squarely in the daily tests which come at home, in school, at work, at play, and to be a friend to all. The club has tried to better itself by stressing the symbol of the G. R. which is a triangle within a circle. The triangle pictures three sides of growing personality-body, mind, and spirit. The circle is the expression of this personality as it touches others in work, play, and worship. As a girl's body, mind, and spirit grow, the triangle which symbolizes her personality grows also and causes the circle, which symbolizes her world, to expand. It means that the more she strives for a perfect body, a keen mind, and a Christ-like spirit, the more vital and worthwhile she will be to the world and the world to her. Interesting programs that the club sponsored were a Halloween party given for the Bluffton G. R., a Banquet for the Football fellows and club members, and a Mother and Daughter Tea in the spring. During this camping expedition, three of the scouts, James Zuercher, Dick Hilty, and Charles Risser, were given the honor of becoming Eagle Scouts. The Boy Scouts of Troop 26 are sponsored by the Business Men's Asso- ciation. The motto is Be Prepared and their cardinal Principle is Do a Good Turn Daily. The main principles of scouts includes first aid, life saving, signaling, and dozens of other accomplishments. Scouting gives boys a chance to serve their community. America knows it as a program of things useful for boys to do in their leisure time. It knows no race, creed or class. It is open both to the farm and city-it serves the rich and poor alike. The Boy Scouts of America is chartered by Congress and the President of the United States is its honorary president. OFFICERS Scout Master ..................,............
