Girls are chosen the first ot the year, one to work in the office each joeriod of the day. The purpose of having these girls is to relieve the secretary of sorne of her tasks. DIVERSIFIED OCCUPATIONS This program, sponsored by the State Department of Education, began its second year at Pana with nineteen boys, four returning from last year. To be able to participate in this program, a boy must be at least a junior and sixteen years of age. The fact that these boys work at different places of industry does not mean that they do not attend school. Their schedule is different, however, for they attend school in the morning and work in the afternoon. Subjects included in their schedule are two required ones and another, D. O. Related, pertaining to the specific job at which they Work. The purpose of this group is to learn a trade and to earn money While attending school. Occupations represented are: florist, meat cutter, presser and cleaner, farm machinery maintenance, printer, heating and Ventilating, and automotive machinist. Under the guidance of Mr. Yonker, Pana is one of twenty-six schools in Illinois having this program. This year he inaugurated a D. O. They not only serve ihe scnool, out the coirgrriunity as well. When a request is rnade lor a machine or an operator, one is always ready to serve.
