Epley, D. Holland, V. Barringer. Preserving our natrual resources and learning the methods used to accomplish this is the work of the Conservation Club. This club meets monthly to discuss and study the conservation of soil, forestry, water, and Wildlife, Under the able guidance of Mr. Staff, the club planned movies, tield trips, and reports to lce given at meetings to help further the members knowledge. This club is open to all Pana High students who are interested in conserving natural resources. The club was started in i945 under the direction of Miss Meier and since then has made considerable progress in teaching people to conserve our natural surroundings. Leading the club were Dee Holland, President Bok: Lees Vice-Press dent' lini Epley, Treasurer and fffr, Statt, Sponsor. The assembling of one hundred and sixteen girls dressed in their navy blue skirts and sweaters and white V-neck blouses, made the northwest corner an eye-catching spectacle. Comments have come to us from neighboring towns as to the impression the uniformly-clad organization has made upon the visitors to the Pana gym. So impressive was this that other towns, too, are trying to organize similar groups. ln fact, the club is proud to have an organization styled after it in Kemrnerer, Wyoming, PA THER CLUB The key to the success ot the organization is student government. When a member does not live up to the requirements, she is suspended from the club. The requirements are simple, but they apply to alleuniforms must be worn at all basketball games and only three unexcused absences are allowed. Two tardy arrivals count as an absence. The head Panthers were: Marilyn Maulding, President, Carolyn Byan, Vice-President, Ruth Anne Bond, Secretary, Barbara Christner, Treasurer, and Mrs. Prater, Sponsor, The Panther Club has two aimsetirst and foremost, good sportsmanship at all times, one of the intangibles on which all sports are justified in the educational system.
