From thirty-four candidates, eleven seniors were elected to the National Honor Society on the basis of scholarship, service, character, and leadership. To become eligible for election, the candidates must spend at least one semester in the school from which they are elected as well as have a scholar- ship average of B and maintain that average while a member. Not more than fifteen per cent of any class can be elected. The council for the election of this group consists of the principal and members of the faculty. The reward for this outstanding scholastic attainment is a pin with the society's emblem, a torch, which is presented at commencement exercises, Election to this society is one of the most cherished memories a graduate of Pana High School may have. 442177 -Q
