Street Scene Half a century ago Harvester Street, where the imposing structure that houses the stu- dents of Pampa High School now stands, was a large green pas- ture where cattle grazed. ln the surrounding area large tields of the golden grain, wheat, waved with the winds. This was the stage setting for the school that has harvested hundreds of graduates since the present building was erected twenty years ago. The educa- tional show produced within its walls combines comedy with tragedy, laughter with tears. The drama unfolded lists in its cast of characters students who will become scientists and athletes, musicians and salesmen, busi- nessmen and housewives, teach- ers and stenographers, doctors and lawyers, farmers and minis- ters, soldiers and sailors. Each student who has passed through its halls proudly boasts his link with the school that adopted Harvester as the nick- name for its athletic teams. The old metal machine shop, at right, was moved last summer after construction was completed on the new vocational and agricultural building. The new brick structure stands east of the field house and north of the main school building. Harvester Field House is in the background at the top of picture. , .--a L Busy getting ready for a trip to lnterscholastic League contest are Harvester Band members. The band room is in constant use as a place for rehearsals and individual practice sessions.
