It is composed of the presidents from all home rooms and a Council1or-at- large. Vice-presidents of home rooms act as alternates. The Council,whose pur- pose it is to promote a better school spirit, sponsors almost all student ac- tivities. It has charge of all assembly programs, sponsors the sale of defense stamps and bonds, organizes scrap drives, and arranges all school parties and dances. Other activities this year have included an all-school prom, the pre- sentation of an amateur program, the printing of songbooks for assembly sing- ing, the distribution of school Stationery, and the erection of an Honor Roll naming all Pampa High School students who are now in service. The band played and marched at all the football games, and attended the bi-district game at Vernon. A band clinic was held in February with a number of bands from neighboring towns attending. Another clinic was held in April with Mr. D. 0. Wiley of Texas Tech as conductor. The band gave several Victory Concerts, thus boosting the sale of war bonds and stamps. Bright colored velvet and satin costume of the 17th century were secured from New York. Petruchio had a vicious sword fight with Kyle Bunch and David 0'Brient,who were playing Baphsta and Hortensio. The FFA, composed of boys from the agricultural classes, has carried out an extensive program this year. They have participated in the Gray County Junior Fat Stock Show, the Amarillo Fat Stock Show, District Judg- ing Contests and Area Judging Contests. They attended the-annual District Encampment held at Lake McClellan in May and took part in District Lead- ership Contests. Home projects include the raising of beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, swine, poultry, wheat,and other crops. These projects may be valued at approximately S14,000. Criswell Assistant Coach Upsetting all predictions, the Pampa Harvesters emerged the 1943 District l-AA Champions in one of their greatest SGRSODS. The Green and Gold, Coached for the first time by Otis Coffey and Charles Criswell, won six and lost four games during the season. The team was led by Co- Captains Charlie Boyles and John Paul McKinley. The team scored 156 points in ten games, as, against 78 for their opponents. The year's feature, the defeat of the Amarillo Sandies, came on Thanksgiving Day. A wet, cloudy day hampered both teams, but the Har- vesters' seven points were enough to Lubbock on the same day to give Pampa seniors,the victory over Amarillo was also watched the Sandies bow to Pampa win the game. Plainview defeated its district title. For the 1944 a double treat, because this class in 1941. 3 t the Harvesters were In the bi-district game, Dec. , a Vernon, overcome by the Lions' passing attack. The final score was 20-7. The Brownfield Cubs opened Pampa's conference schedule on Oct. 22. The Cubs were beaten 26-7, and the following week, Plainview was over- whelmed, 33 to 0. On Oct. 3, the Lubbock Westerners met the Harvesters at Lubbock, and won. A non-conference game was played with Mangum, Okla- homa next, Pampa winning, 34-0. John Paul McKinley was placed on the all-district first team.
