, .wy- Class Histor In 1946, thirty-two scared little children were marched single file into the first grade by Mrs. Anderson. There were twenty-nine students in the second grade. A surprise party was given by Mrs. Swafford. In the third grade Mrs. Humphreys had all the students enter a contest on writing jingles about soil conservation. The winners won money and a trip to Spokane where they read their jingles over KHQ. Mrs. Tina Wilson rounded up all the scampering children for the fourth grade. The play, The Golden Goose, was given. Mr. Kerns taught us square dancing and we were in a square dancing program. In the fifth grade Mrs. Ina wilson, the director of our speaking choir, took us to Thornton to the Declamation contest. Virginia Barr entered and placed third, After six years of school, we planned a surprise birthday party for our teacher, Mr, Neal with nineteen pupils attending. The seventh grade was a year with many activities. Quite a few of the boys were on the basketball team and Marlene Cox was one of the cheerleaders. On Stage America was spon- sored by the American Legion Auxiliary and many from our class performed in it or the talent show. Marlene Cox won one of the prizes. The last year of grade school there were sixteen pupils. The teachers were Mr. Parks and Mr. Coble. Virginia Barr, Roberta Chase, Randy Perkins, and Douglas Scoville entered a state and national contest, What America Means to Me. In the fall of 1954, twelve green Frosh timidly walked up the high school steps to meet Mrs, Muir, who was our advisor for that year. Mary Schwalbe and Jerry Griffin were our can- didates for camival king and queen. The sophomores initiated us with some help and later we gave them a return party. Our sophomore advisor was Mrs, Glunk. Roberta Chase was queen candidate for the carnival. We initiated the Freshmen and were given a party by them. Our class of ten put on the Junior play, Let Me Out of Here, and gave the prom, The Garden of Eden. Mr. Parks led us through this year of activity. Mr, Snyder was our senior advisor. Marlene Cox was the queen candidate for the carnival. Virginia Barr was queen candidate to the Palouse Empire Fair, Roberta Chase and Marlene Cox were her princesses. The seniors gave a class play, Around the World in Eighty Days. They enjoyed their sneak and graduated in the usual whirl on June third. Students we have gained in twelve years of school: Mable Soneburg, Lawson Chase, Bonnie Bidle, Dete Dugger, Leroy Jack, Robert Tyson, Mary Schwalbe, Virginia Barr, Janice Lathrop, Jerry Griffin, Noel Harrington, Max Bennett, Don Hickman, Karen Walker, Earl Dubes, Lavem Moore, Jerold LaFernie, Mary Kay Smith, Myra Fulton, Bemadine Johnson, Danny Taylor, Corky Hubbard, Clara Tanner, Duane Bond, Ronnie Miller, George Decker, Raymond Ahlas, Fay Ledgerwood, Donna Mott, Bruce Frazier, and Al Levno. Students who left us were: Kay Farmer, Judy Gale-, Jerry Askins, George Anderson, Gerry Emery, Ralph Moore, Garry Briden, Carolyn Roberts, Larry Eldridge, David Bushel, Dete Dugger, David Walder, Robert Tyson, Bunny Barns, Mable Soneburg, Maridel Kimbluem, Connie Kennedy Florence James, Earl Dubes, Glenda Lambert, Lavem Moore, Ron Brantner, Max Bennett, Karen Walker, Bonnie Bidle, Mary Kay Smith, Myra Fulton, LeRoy Jack, Bernadine Johnson, Steven Emery, Lawson Chase, Danny Taylor, Pat Cown, Corky Hubbard, Clara Tanner, Mary Schwalbe, Carol Tempero, Duane Bond, George Decker, Robert Moffat, Raymond Ahlas, Fay Ledgerwood, Donna Mott, Bruce Frazier, Janice Lathrop, Douglas Scoville, Garry Curtis, and Marcia Blood.
