Raymond, MT- White, Coach 34416216411 The 56-57 season for Palouse was an improvement over the previous season. The record was 12-6 as compared with a 6-12 the year before. This record was due to many facts. One was that we lost only one ball game on our home floor and that was by only 2 points to Rosalia. This game was very exciting and close as were several of our home games. The Rosalia team lead at times by as much as 12 points but the Palouse team cut the lead down a considerable amount in the third quarter. by scoring 9 points to Rosalia's 3. Rosalia won the game in the last 5 seconds as they took a rebound off the Palouse backboard and managed a tip in on their own basket. Of the 3 home games with Tekoa, Rosalia and Garfield there was only a one or two point margin between the teams final score. Six foot six inch Dick Ankcorn, a junior, played very well for Palouse this season. He was the top scorer with 317 points during the regular season for us as well as a very excellent rebounder and defensive man as he blocked many of the oppositions shots. Joe Hulett, a sophomore, did a fine job of shooting from the side, the key and on rebounds scoring 187 points during the regular season. Mike Grady, a senior, came along fine this season as he developed into a good rebounder and cleared the board several times each game. Lee Chase and Bill Holway did fine jobs of setting up the offensive patterns and feeding the main scores of the team. The B squad had a slow start this season, taking it on the chin several times before they got their attack rolling. The big event of the season was beating Potlatch B squad on their own floor and breaking the Potlatch winning streak. A1 Levno came during the season and he and Randy Perkins helped the B squad vcry much. 46
