The Math Club continued to produce top notch performances from many of its various members. Our math team has steadily improved during the past few years. This year, the team was arguably the best in the state, said Mike Mitzenmacher and Yu-Shen Ng. Founded by Senior Anne Lucas, the NeoMalthusian Club was a new addition to Palos Verdes High's organizations. The club follows the philosophies of the Doomsday economist, T.R. Malthus. With the population growing as rapidly as it is, and a limited food supply, the club seemed to me like a good way to alert people to the problems that our generation will have to face, said Lucas. A, Q, fa-,-. ,er- :ef f . an The Tridette Drill Team received numerous first place awards this year and was awarded the specialties award at its most competitive parade competition. Under the leadership of Captains Dona Leonard, Kanae Shimizu, Noelle Weinman, and Jully Tsai, the team continued indoor competitions, performed in the halftime show of Superbowl XXI, and traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, for competition during the spring. Commenting on the team, Dona Leonard said, A significant point is that we have one of the largest teams in the South Bay area, yet we still do so well.
