X ' - A Students have weekend of hard work and fun play The annual Leadership camp, held at the JCA camp near Big Bear was very successful. Much was ac- complished throughout the weekend. The first day was spent entirely on the planning of the 1984 Homecoming activities. The second day, the students were split into groups to discuss various topics including school improve- ment and Creative Thought Day. Students were also given an opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the j,,, Tsao, Greg Hardy, and Christine Kim take a break from work and soak up the mountain air. mountain sun . Will it rain like last year and ruin all the activities? This was the question in everyone ' s minds Homecoming day of 1983. Fortunately for everyone except the Tartars it did not rain, and the day went on as scheduled. The first major activity of the day was the Miss Brickhouse competition in which John Wang, alias Mrs. Glushenko, was chosen Miss Brickhouse 1983. The pep squad then spoke their sparkling bits of poetry and the game was soon upon us. The Torrance Tartars were in for the game of their lives. At half time, the sophomore float was awarded first place and Natalie Baszile was chosen Homecoming Queen 1983- 1984. The Sea Kings later ' creamed ' the Tartars. (Does that make them tartar sauce?) All in all, it was a grand day full of the usual ex- citement and spirit plus an extra feel- ing of unity between the classes. Greg Hardy seems to be taking the day ' s activities seriously. Key Club mascot, Waldo, smiles at the crowd. Dan Wozniak and Scott Jordan grit their teeth while Lamont Lacey and Ed Chevalier appear to be having a ball. 26- Activities
