Varsity team proves to be strong = 8 ' - - - - Varsity Volleyball: Front Row: George Rankin. John Tsao, John Chen, Gordon Shiring. Dave Sfefanides, Mike Barker, Bill Thompson, Tom Melton, Scott Mumby, Rob Chang, Casey LaScala, Mark Goodale After a strong year, the Varsity volleyball team performed exceptionally well. The team was comprised of underclassmen who will be important veterans in future years. All the players performed well, and their team work paid off. Bill Thompson, Scott Mumby and Mark Goodale were key offensive players. Setters Mumby and Casey LaScala, Dave Stefanides, Tom Melton, Rob Chang, Gordon Shiring, Mike Barker and George Rankin contributed to the all-around excellence of the team. Under Coach Ray Nunn. PV ' s volleyball program holds promise for improvement and strength in the coming years. Meanwhile, the JV team showcased strong performances by John Chen, Mike Barker and John Tsao. The team improved steadily as the season progressed. The JV team expects to improve and have another winning season. Showing excellent form. Greg Monteilh flies over anotfier fiurdle Palos Verdes Varsity track has always been a contender in the past and has continued to supply competition in 84. Led by veteran coaches Joe Kelly and Rod Flagler, this year ' s team has lived up to its potential. Outstanding performances were turn- ed in by Pat Watson in distance, Greg Monteilh in hurdles, John Ra- fuse in sprints, and Mike Hillis in long jump. These athletes contributed to a team effort which brought much ex- citement to this year ' s season.
