The Girls ' Varsity Basketball Team had a good but disappointing season. Although Captain Julia Perles and Co-Captains Molly Gleason and Chris Rowley gave impressive performances, the team ' s record was 7-7. Perles commented, ' It was disappointing to work so hard and have a record that didn ' t show it. ' Next year promises to be a good season for the Sea Kings, to be led by Diane Sakamoto and Patti O ' Brien. The Junior Varsity Team, led by sophomores Colleen Nolan and Captain Jennie Parsa, was also successful in its endeavors. Besides reaching the Consolation Championship in the Culver City Tournament, the team made the most of their new talent. Contributing much to the JV team were freshmen Carolyn King, Suzie O ' Grady and Elena Fernandez. Girls ' basketball goes far in ' 84 Ignoring the pressure, Chris Rowley makes a perfect freethrow as Molly Gleason and Julia Perles prepare to rebound. The Palos Verdes freshman basketball team, in spite of strong hopes and good potential, had a disappointing season. They finished with a record of 3- 1 1 in League play; yet even though their record didn ' t show it, the freshmen have a lot of potential, especially in forward Jason Taylor and guard-forward Greg Whitley. Guards Ray Landero and John Brown also exhibited strong, consistent play.
