Varsity wrestlers take on all comers PV ' s Varsity wrestling team had an outstanding year. Under the guidance of Coach Peter Fawaz, the team finished 12-2 in overall dual meet competition, the best season in over ten years of fierce competition. Leading the group, the four league champions were John Conners, Dave Faust, Jeff Kaye, and Allan Ward. Five varsity members reached the CIF finals: Tracy Carpenter, John Connors, Dan Hatano, Jeff Kaye, and Allan Ward. Junior Varsity wrestling didn ' t finish as champions, but they did have a very good year, finishing 3rd place in league. Leading these young strivers were league champions Greg Alvarado, Andy Marckesano, and Steve Shouse. Girls ' Junior Varsity Soccer: Front Row: Jill Condon, Kate Halkett, Monica Gorman, Mitch Merlander. 2nd Row: Dawn Goodman, Sheila Miller, Ann Blank, Kirsten Stanr. 3rd Row: Lisa Simpson, Amy Hoyt, Coach Bill Owens, Melissa Collins, Sheryl Stark. Girls ' soccer teams win League titles Varsity soccer completed another season by winning the Bay League Championship with a 17-1-1 record. One of the highlights of their season was winning first place in the South Tournament during Christmas. Jody Fechner, Jennifer Leh, and Carin Jennings controlled the offense while Jenny Fechner and Janet Coffee handled the midfield, Krissy Zaleski stabilized the defense. Because of their combined efforts, Janet Coffey and Jody Fechner were awarded team co-MVPs. Krissy Zaleski was named Most Inspirational and Juliet Virtue was awarded Most Improved. The Junior Varsity team, coached by Bill Owens, was also league champs with their 14-1-1 record. Captain Mitch Merlander led the team in scoring and was named MVP. Sheila Miller and Lisa Simpson were awarded a co-Most Improved award and Amy Hoyt was named Most Inspirational.
