Junior Varsity works hard but Team effort was the best thing that came out of the Junior Varsity ' s season. They finished fourth in Bay League with a 4-6 record and had a 7-12 overall record. Coach Joe Kelly said, The team played to their ability near the end of the season. Their attitude and the way they never gave up helped to make the season profit- able. Our co-MVP ' s were Leo Childs and sophomore Mike Hart. Steve Standring and team captain Bob Dinetz also played consistently. Junior Varsity Basketball: Front Row: Tony Clark. Sophs do well and Frosh improve Sophomore Basketball: Front Row ' : Jim Porter, Moon Pak, Jamie Hunt, Bill Mulkey 2nd Row: Scott Schuler, John Heffernan, Bill Mashy, Craig Donaldson, Robbie Warren, Kevin Spillane, Coach Ralph Lepore. Freshman Basketball: Front Row: Paul Woodward, Roman Horeczko. Bernie Brinkman, Tod Muilenberg, James Regan, Sam Silverman. 2nd Row: Coach John Eberhard, Steve Otera, Stan Chao, Ed Donovan. Eric Blatt. Scott Snell, Tom Marracci. DRIVING FOR A LAY-UP is sophomore player Jim Porter. Hustle provided the sophomore bas- ketball team with a very good season. They finished second in Bay League with a 7-3 record and had a 15-8 overall record. The sophomores also won the Mira Costa Tournament and placed fourth in the Hawthorne Tour- nament. Key players were MVP Craig Donaldson, as well as Jim Porter, Kevin Spillane, and freshman Robbie Warren, according to Coach Ralph Lepore. Much improvement occurred during the freshmen season. Finishing a dis- appointing fifth with a 2-8 Bay League record and a 5-14 overall record, Coach John Eberhard said, The team played well in the second half of league. They worked hard and never gave up when it would have been easy to. Key players were MVP Scott Snell as well as James Regan (outside shooting) , Stan Chao and Ed Donovan (rebounding) , Eric Blatt (defense) , and captain Tod Muilen- burg (passing).
