Sea Kings excel in outstanding season Following an excellent season winning nineteen games and losing only six, the boys ' basketball team played in one of its best seasons yet. The team displayed its great talent by winning the Covina Tournament and ending the season with second place in Bay League. The team made it to GIF but was knocked out in competition later. The team ' s coach, John Mihaljevich, felt that the 1980 varsity basketball team was one of the better teams in school history. Among the many talented players Jeff Acres and Mark Acres were selected for all-league players first team. Greg Fitzgibbons made the all-league players second team. TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER open man to pass to is Junior Mark Acres. Junior Varsity works hard but Team effort was the best thing that came out of the Junior Varsity ' s season. They finished fourth in Bay League with a 4-6 record and had a 7-12 overall record. Coach Joe Kelly said, The team played to their ability near the end of the season. Their attitude and the way they never gave up helped to make the season profit- able. Our co-MVP ' s were Leo Childs and sophomore Mike Hart. Steve Standring and team captain Bob Dinetz also played consistently. Junior Varsity Basketball: Front Row: Tony Clark.
