Bob Mehdizadeh, Shannon McMillan, Scott Hamilton, Vince Pozzouli, Craig Doherty, Bill Chappelear, Rick Watson, Dave Billings, John Crook, Coach Steve Sauers, Coach Pete Fawaz. 4th Row: John Elmajian, Mike Hart, Scott Carroll, Pete Ferryman, Marty Dehart, Mark Brown, Ed Gorsuch, John Mitchell, Craig Donaldson. PV ' s Soph Football Team ended the year winning the Bay League Title with a League record of 5-0, with an overall record of 8-2. The Frosh team, meanwhile, had a disappointing season, finishing 0-6-2. The Sophomore team had a well- balanced running and passing attack with a very aggressive defense. Their outstanding games, according to Pat Lindsay, were the wins over RH, 51-7, and North, 39-16. Overall, Quarterback Mike Hart was the team ' s outstanding performer. The Freshman team, however, had problems getting it all together. A major setback occured midway through the season, when Quarterback Jeff Brown suffered a knee injury. The toughest game for the Frosh team was against Bishop Montgomery, where they lost a heartbreaker 21-20 in the final minutes. The team ' s MVP Award went to running back Bill Mashey. SOPHOMORE SEA KING brings down the West High quarterback singlehandedly. 208Football

Sea Kings win Bay League title WITH TOUGH BLOCKING Jim Mays receives the handoff and sweeps around end. Varsity football had a great season with an overall record of 10-3. We had to make many sacrifices and put in a lot of work and it paid off. ' ' said Coach Ken Russell. Before the season, we didn ' t know what kind of team we ' d have, but wanted to win Bay League, and did, said Russell. In CIF, the Sea Kings went on to beat Long Beach Jordan and San Marcos before losing to undefeated Compton in the semi-finals. The team voted for Clay Eisenbrand as MVP for the year. Eisenbrand and Pete Best received Most Valuable Offensive Players while Joe Upegui and Buck Shaw shared Most Valuable Defensive Players. Eisenbrand got Senior Athlete of the Year Nominee.
