Girls ' cross country runs away with title The Varsity Girls ' Cross Country Team completed an undefeated sea- son, and then capped it with their first GIF 4-A championship. This, after surmounting numerous financial dif- ficulties, was a truly outstanding team. Among the honor-laden runners were Diane Harrell; first girl co-captain, and Athlete-of-the-Year Nominee; and Julie Vogt, Most Inspirational Runner, who motivated the team throughout the year. Finishing their season undefeated, the Girls ' Junior Varsity Squad captured the Bay, League Crown. With their 10-0 record, the girls established themselves as strong contenders for future Bay League titles. Led by Todd Chambers, the Boys ' Freshman Cross Country team won another Bay League Championship. They finished their season with a 10-0 record and exhibited depth and a great sense of team effort. The Boys ' Sophmore Cross Country team, with Bay League ' s MVP Steve Wilhem, finished strongly with a 6-4 record. ' C- .
