Girls ' cross country runs away with title The Varsity Girls ' Cross Country Team completed an undefeated sea- son, and then capped it with their first GIF 4-A championship. This, after surmounting numerous financial dif- ficulties, was a truly outstanding team. Among the honor-laden runners were Diane Harrell; first girl co-captain, and Athlete-of-the-Year Nominee; and Julie Vogt, Most Inspirational Runner, who motivated the team throughout the year. Finishing its season, the Boys ' Junior Varsity cross country team achieved a strong record of 8-2. Both of its loses were by one point. It placed second in the tough Bay League competition. It was a strong running squad, with the Most Valuable player award for the Junior Varsity going to Mike O ' Rourke. STRAINING TO MAINTAIN HIS LEAD over his opponent is Drew Flood.
