Shakespeareans watch Hamlet Maureen Halikis and Bridget Gleason were always using their free nnoments between classes to crochet different things for special occasions. The tal- ented duo was seen around school crocheting afghans and other colorful and interesting designs. Shakespeare Club was made up of students who were interested in the plays of Shakespeare. They raised money so that they could rent great Shakespearean films such as Hamlet , Macbeth , and Taming of the Shrew . Crochet Club: Maureen Halikis, Bridget Gleason. A very successful year for all clubs The Foreign Exchange Club once nnore welcomed students from other countries to Palos Verdes High School. They took part in a carolling party with Rolling Hills and Miraleste High School, participated in a trip to Alpine Village, and organized fund raisers such as a jiffy-ribbon sale and a garage sale. Mariners have a whale of a time Marine Mammals Club: Front Row: Terrence Yu, Laurence Young. Ken Ellinwood. Dennis Lemmi. 2nd Row: Chris Ellinwood, John Bacon, Denise Williams, Elaine Yeh. Patricia Ricci. Marine Mammals Club is an inform- ative discussion group that brings up such topics as what sea animals eat, how they live, and how they die. It talks about such animals as whales, dolphins, porpoises, and other fasci- nating sea animals. Laurence Young was quoted as saying, Marine Mam- mals is an interesting club, and it really is a lot of fun. Marine Science Club is a most out- standing club at Palos Verdes High. During the year, one of their most interesting activities was a $500 field trip. They raised the money for this trip by selling stationery, collecting newspapers and aluminum cans, holding a bake sale, and doing various other moneymaking projects. On the field trip, Joan Wang said, It was an interesting experience being able to bring the classroom outdoors. This was the first year that the Marine Science Club has been at Palos Verdes.
