After graduating in Hungary, Mr Dorics come to rhe US in 1956. Here he did many jobs, including reaching. And then, little by little, he got more serious about photography; raking fashion photos etc. For the last 3-4 years, Mr Dorics has been taking the infamous 'Senior Portraits and has done a tremendous job. The time and energy he has devoted to help our yearbook is much appreciated, and, if you hove ever had him rake your picturet you know he is a person hard to forger. And... Yearbook Advisor Dow Huskey A member of rhe Polo Airo School District Staff for 25 yearst Mr. Huskey has taught a variety of dosses. At Palo Airo, he has taught Business Education and Typing dosses for the last six years. Mr. Huskey was appointed advisor two years ago, and since has done much to keep rhe yearbook budget out of the red. Mr. Huskey has many other interests besides business; he is exper- ienced in remodeling, carpentry, dog-training, golf fish- ing, hunting, painting, sculpting, cooking (chili is his specialty), and now, most of all, yearbook production!! M I N I S T K A T I With Mr James Shroyer's first full year as Polys principal before him, the school's administration has worked dili- gently with students, faculty and parents to bring new ideas, programs and procedures to the campus. It is in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding that Mr Shroyer and his fellow administrators wish to see Paly a better place in which to study; work and grow. The Site improvement Council[ the Title I programi and the re- vamped competency testing are but three of the mony programs Mr. Shroyer and his assistants have dealt with successfully this past year. (This does not include the dramomine-loden deep-sea fishing trips!) 18 Marie Chadderdon Richard Condon Anne Dreyfuss Jack Phillips Wallace Porter Ralph Smith 19 A S C H L The A-school's method of reaching on a per- son-to-person bosis ollows the student a chance to ger ro know the staff; while enjoying class. All of the fifty or so students plan their own curriculum, while receiving personal attention from the staff. The staff consists of Paul Jones and Non Warner-borh teaching 9th and 10th grade Social Srudies English, Paula OlingerMath, Judy Stark- Contract P.E., and Kurt Johnson-Amen Ur, US History, Government, and Independent English. Kun Johnson has an exceptionally heavy work load os he is also the head of the A school system. Kun keeps A-school together. Soys Kun, Stu- dents and staff of the Alternative Program have to work with the administration to iron our any difficulties berween us. We're always trying to keep channels of communication open. 20 21 Ediror-in-Chief; Forresr Mo rzmon Managing Editor: Morgor Early Business EdirorKevin Petersen News Ediror Dede Turnbull Editorials Editor: Jennifer Rickard Features Editor. Whor you do now molds your future. Live life to the fullest, you're only young once How many rimes hove you heard these phrases? We all have or some point, and although we may nor fully agree with them, we do know rhar high school does hove an imponant influence on us, an influence rhar we will forever carry. This year, like any other, past or present, rhe distinction between dosses was evident. The Seniors were the grown ups on campus, sure of themselves and rheir fu- ture The Juniors, the workers, were concerned with PSA Vs, SA Vs, ACH's, and NMSQTs — things seniors laugh at, sophomores fear, and freshmen are totally oblivious to. The Sophomores-well, they were just there, now accustomed to rhe high school routine, but still a little wory. The Freshmen were rhe babies, curious of upper school life and very unsure of the whole situation. The rheme of rhe 1982 Modrono is Growing Up. Since Paly has so much to do with our transition from pre- teenager to responsible (?) adult, we thought we owed our efforts to rhe school — its teachers, administrators, and of course, its students, all rhe elements that make up Palo Alto Senior High School. Right now, rhose of us that ore seniors feel very mature and capable With college or employment on rhe horizon we ore preparing for rhe undertaking. Dur there is still quire a lor of growing to be done, os evidenced by our doss photo! I guess we really are children or heart. So, another year, another yearbook, another gradu ation, another freshmen class. Another cycle of growth. Congratulations Goss of '82! 31fi The rash of purring rogerher q yearbook is nor on easy one. Ir takes a roienred staff — and many hours of hard work — plus a lor of support With only o few returning members, this year's staff had to work extra hard to learn, practice, and perfect its yearbook production skills Congratulations to the dedicated few who mode this book possible . .. you did itIA special thank you to Dona Mar who spent many hours on late-night (and early morning) deadlines — we couldn 'r hove mode ir without you! To Jennifer Groyf the junior section and sports editor pro tempore — you always accepted the last-minute and unwant- ed assignments. Without either of you most of these pages might not hove made it onto the press. Mosr people don T realize just how much rime goes into the development of a school annual. Aside from class time, many hours ore spent in the darkroom, behind typewriters, and or staffers' homes cramming to finish that last page. I con recall several times when the staff and I stayed in the classroom until 9 p.m Sometimes, ir was even necessary to remoin up all night to meet a deadline. Not like 1 or 2 a m., as you might imagine, bur sometimes until 4 or 5 a m I Thanks to loyal participants — and a lot of caffein — we mode ir through those tiring sessions. As we all sot around my kitchen table burning the midnight oil ' my parents felt as if they had acquired several extra kids. None of this could have been accomplished without the support of those who contributed above and beyond the coll of duty. Many people were dragged into the production of this yearbook. Math, Business, and English teachers become part- time advisors. We received much contribution and outside help from students, Mends, and staff members' relatives. Thonfss to all who pur in rime. Gratitude should also go to the custodians who worked around us os we desheveled the art rooms and the art teachers who pur up with our almost constant presence. In conclusion, I want to thank everyone involved one more time. Thank you .,. and thank you Palyf it's been a challeng- ing and rewording experience I hope you will get os much our of this volume of memories os we put into ir. Eydie M. Kogan Editor-In-Chief
