little big game hi there, pigskin fans, this is ol' tom bombadillo here, with slurpee in one hand and score sheet in the other, bringing you live and in color today's turkey day classic ball game, well, from up here in the press box it looks like paly is really gonna sock it to sequoia, before our telecast began today there was a two-mile track race between paly and sequoia, sorry you missed out on that, but paly won the race easily, i guess you missed the coin toss, too, but just to set you up to date, sequoia has de- cided to receive, well, there's the kick-off, and palo alto is hitting much too hard as far as the purple-and-white viking eaters are concerned, there's gulbrandsen on the first downs with the ball inside the sequoia twenty yard line, there's the gong, and the first half ends with the score sequoia nothing, palo alto nothing, well, fans, it's a great day here for football, the sky is deeply blue clear, the temperature is in the high 60's, and humidity 32.5 and rising, coach bill donohue is leading the alto palo team off the field now, most likely uh, and here comes the toot-toot paly band with drum major andy boyett, right behind them miss lee israel as baton girl, leading her letter girls, i guess these card stunts are about the best i've seen here at Stanford since the 1938 game between syosset and milpitas oops, here are the teams on the field again, and there's the gong, se- quoia kicks and paly receives the ball, and oh, fans, what a run. sixty-four yards in ten plays! man oh man. friends, paly is hitting as hard as he can, with a mag- nificient sweep by hostetter and a nice block by bush- nell, taking the vikes all the way down to the sequoia nine yard line, from here on in it looks like raw blocking and guts as read powers it into the end zone from nine yards out. man, just listen to the crowd roar! now whip- pie kicks and it's go baby go putting p.a. ahead seven to nothing, now sequoia fumbles, and the vikings recover the ball on redwood city's twenty-four yard line, fourth down, there's whipple again man what a kick! the fans jump to their feet, from thirty-two yeards out whip- ple puts the ball straight through the up-rights and now the crowd is shouting out the last few seconds of the game. the kick is good! the score is ten to nothing, in favor of palo alto, oh whatta game, let's listen to the crowd ten eight seven five three two one and there's the gong! alto palo once again wins the turkey-and-cranberry annual here at Stanford sta- dium. the crowd has spilled onto the field racing for the goal posts, and are apparently tearing down both of them, you can be sure it will be a happy day here in p.a. after this pop upset over redwood city, the crowd has gone wild i've just been handed a note saying don read has been selected as most valuable player of the game, well, that's about it from here, so this is tom bom- badillo signing off, reminding you that'when you want some fun, sing obla di bla da!' thank you.

paly 7 woodside 6 paly 40 carlmont 6 paly 14 san carlos 20 paly 6 menlo atherton 0 paly 6 cubberley 19 paly 9 gunn 7 paly 8 ravenswood 0 paly 7 sequoia 20 twenty-five 239 yards in 50 carriers and an average of 4.7 yards a carry, hard running fullback john crane carried the ball the most times 72 to be exact for 305 yards and a 4.2 average, pete vogl had 52 carries for 189 yards and a 3.6 average, mike herling carried the ball 34 times for 117 yards and a 3.4 average, in the passing department aldinger completed 41 of 110 passes for 483 yards having his big day in the sequoia game as he passed for 305 yards, aldingers leading recievers were ron hinckley with 8 catches for 157 yards, in tackles mike herling led with 42 followed by geiger and crane with 35 each, coach jay vierra commented and said that carl aldinger, doug mayfield, jerry duncan, john crane, and jeff long are five of the bests prospects for next years varsity team. season scores geiger, roger heap, tom cooper, mark kelley, john crane, carl aldinger, mike herling, ron Hinkley, john foster, darrell iki, alan gehmon, gordon zack, mike van patten, doug mayfield, randy mcwilliams.
