For twenty-one years Miss Sanders dedicated herself to Paly and its students, sponsoring the French Club, the French Honorary Society, and the California Scholarship Federation. With her, French was more than textbooks and participles; it was reading poetry, going to the theatre, singing and eating a lo francaise . A spark of individualism and culture has been extinguished, but the privileged ‘'petiss and petitcs to whom she gave the French language will long appreciate her selfless teaching and service. 25

Dave Matthews, Norma Show, Deiter Johnson The German Club, supervised by Frau Cate ond presided over by Mike Thompson, is composed of highly intellectual German speaking students. At our meeting, which are held once a month, the students of Poly and Cubberly speak German to one another, sing German songs, and see slides of the German nation. The greatest novelty of the club, however, is eating German pastries and drinking heisse schoko- lade. The club had a one day ski trip, a dinner at the Black Forest, and heard guest speakers talk of their notive land. 27
