MR. RUPPEL May I first congratulate the seniors on their fine accomplishments. Each of you must be very proud and you deserve to be proud. You have been privileged to re- ceive your education in one of the finest high schools in America. There have been moments of disappointment mixed with hours of happiness. You will soon join an illus- trious group of alumni who have created almost a Paly High legend. This year the underclassmen created a spirit which permeated the classrooms and the playing fields. Most students exhibited a deep-rooted respect for learning. This year an earnest desire to improve upon America's moral and intellectual climate was very evident. Inspired teaching by the staff has changed your lives. I wish to express my appreciation to Miss Dorothy Tanner, editor of the MADRONO, and her staff; to Miss Nancy Corbett, Commissioner of Publications; and to Mr. George McLean, MADRONO sponsor, for their hours of work and creativity in producing the I960 MADRONO. 3 Ray P. Ruppel

Our Princess was the title given her by her first principal at Paly. The title has been well deserved, for her graciousness, her modesty, and her desire to serve have charmed all who know her. Her desire to share her wealth of knowledge, her love for all humanity, her appreciation for their worth, and her affection for all living creatures have impressed faculty and students alike. As the founder of the International Club she shared her enthusiasm for peace among all peoples. As a testimony of appreciation a special reading room is being provided in our library to further the literary and artistic interests to which she was so devoted. Her creative ability and artistic talents stand forth as beacon lights to guide those who have come under her inspired teaching. In deep appreciation we dedicate this MADRONO to Miss Ingegerd Uppman. 2
