SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Truly possessing one of the greatest student bodies of California, Paly holds deep pride for her outstanding leadership. ... As Sophomores we stood in wonderment of the big green halls and in awe of our upperclassmen who seemed so big and sophisticated. Starting the year by electing our class officers, Dick Ahworth, president; Steve Rothert, vice-president, and Becky Thatcher, secretary, we knew that we were getting in the swing of things. Our girls joined the social clubs of their choice and began to get acquainted with the upper- classmen. The Class of '59 got well under way when It presented Bermuda Ball. This dance was a great success and a lot of fun since everyone came dressed in bermudas. .We helped R.I.F. put on their Luau (the last one for a while). ... As Juniors our boys took part in varsity football, which ranked second in SPAL, basketball, track, cross country, wrestling and swimming. We elected Steve Rothert president, Bonnie Brigham, vice-president, and Pat Farr, secretary for the year. The highlight of the year was Rhythm at the Ritz, the Junior Prom. ... As Seniors we took over the spotlight which we had been working for the past two years. In sports we took SPAL Championship in basketball, cross country and wrestling. Also our Cross Country team won the National Cross Country Champion- ship (thanks to George Linn). As we close the pages of our stay at Paly with the Senior Ball, our traditional Senior Week and Grad Night, we will never forget what Paly has shown us.
