People will little note nor long remember what , . , is said here, but we — the class of '58 — will certainly remember what we accomplished during our three years at Paly. We began our sophomore year 542 strong, a little awed by our sur- roundings. Our sophomore football team came in second in PAL stand- ings with six victories, one loss. The following spring we held our class party, Sophomore Shenanigans; swimming, volleyball, baseball, dinner, and dancing were all available. In our junior year our class was split — half leaving to become the be- ginnings of a new high school, Cubberley. Class spirit is strong, but school spirit even stronger; and so a friendly rivalry did develop. The big event of the year was Carousel, our very successful junior prom. Our class party was in December this time; the evening consisted of an enormous spaghetti feed topped by volleyball and dancing for those who were able, and ended with group singing. In sports our junior boys were part of varsity football, water polo, cross country, wrestling, and swimming teams, all of which became PAL champions. Our senior year — when we assumed leadership at Paly — was an Im- portant time for all of us. We worked hard — both in running the school and completing our last course requirements. Our football team was second in SPAL standings; we had the only team which was able to slow the winning Cougars. The Board of Welfare was created for the purpose of maintaining Paly's good reputation. Town meeting, a new program to enable the students to voice their opinions and discuss school issues, was tentatively organized. As the yearbook goes to press many of our class members have been selected for scholarship programs and several opportunities are still available. Yes, we have accomplished much and gained much In our three years at Paly — and we are better prepared to face the future because of this.
