Queridos amigos mios: I little thought when I received my diploma from Palo Alto High School in 1910, that I would be sending a farewell message to the Madrono of 1957, this time as a graduating teacher. I loved Paly then; I love her now. The spirit of wholesomeness, friendship, understanding, and opportunity which existed then are still abundantly present for those who care to enjoy them. The buildings may be different, but they represent only the outer shell. Paly lives on through the years in the character, loyalty and enthusiasm of her students, past and present, and her faculty. These qualities have always been and always will be characteristic of our school. I hope that in the future, when you look back on 1957, that your mind will fill with love and gratifude as you realize what Paly tried to express to you. May hard work and success enter your experience in reason- able amounts, and may you be truly happy. Sincerely, Lina Jacob Guerrero Mrs. Guerrero Dedication The Class of 1957 wishes to dedicate this Madrono to you, Mrs. Guerrero and Mrs. Younkin, whose years of service to Palo Alto Senior High School amount to more than three-quarters of a century. Mrs. Younkin To the class of ’57: I would like to express my appreciation for your co-operation in making many worth-while undertakings successful. During the past three years we have worked together in the classroom, in World Service and have played together on the tennis court. It is my hope that in the process you have learned that happiness is a by-product of service. You have done well in fhe past. Your success and achieve- ments in the future will be even more notable. The best of luck and God bless you all. Mrs. Fay L. Younkin
