MR. KENNETH PALMER Counselor DR. ELIZABETH PUKaS Counselor Senior Class History Now that we have come to the close of our high school career, it is hard to realize how much we have changed since we first came to Paly. We cannot deny that each of us has changed over the three years; our many-faceted education assures us of that. When we came here in 1954, we had but one thing to help us along through the years; that thing was spirit. Our sophomore year was one of changes at Paly. Our principal, Ray P. Ruppel, was a Sopho- more with us, for it was his first year In charge of the school. The questionable Block P initiation policy was changed and caused a furor; partly as a result of this policy change, we were the last class to receive school-approved initiations. The Class of '57 presented the last Soph-Hop, Beau and Arrow Ball ; it was centered on a Valentine theme. Soph football just missed the championship, but was sensational in scoring, Fifty-seven was on its way to becoming Best Ever . During the junior year, we kept the school running. Any serious senior knew it and often said so. We were the bulk of the sports teams and kept the hustle1 alive. The Junior Prom, Mirage , was one of the most highly successful dances of the year. We then knew we were Best Ever , and our chance came to prove it in our senior year. With the largest Senior Class in the school's history, how could we miss? The spirit in athletics was the most intense Paly had ever seen. Our teams won first places in every fall sport, and nobody can beat that. The Senior Smash was certainly a most spirited and entertaining class party. The Senior Ball was fittingly resplendent for the Class of '57; Grad Night and Senior Week topped every- thing previously held at Paly. We were, truly, Best Ever . Perhaps the Spirit of '57 will not be carried on in all of us, but we can look back on our stay at Paly as being a shining experience. We will never fully realize all that Paly has given us, and Paly High will be to most of us the finest high school we could have attended.
