SENIOR CLASS COUNCIL Front Row: K. Peters, B. Hackney, L Caruthers, L. Hopper, J. Thomas, Back Row: B. Reck, B. Youngberg, J. Liston, S. Johnson, S, Jarvis, SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As graduation rapidly approaches and our three years here at Paly draw to a close, it is time for the Class of 1956 to recall some of our varied experiences. As sophomores we entered Paly some four hundred strong and a little awed by our new surroundings. But size proved to be not the only virture of the Class of 56. We proved our athletic ability as Paly won the Soph. P. A. L. Football Championship for the second consecutive year. We ordered our class rings and sponsored the first Soph Hop, centered around a circus theme. As Juniors we excelled in activities, athletics, and scholarship. We participated in the first A. F. S. exchange program, sending four members of our class to live abroad for the summer. We sponsored the Junior Prom, Knight of Magic , which had an unusual medieval theme. As Spring advanced elections drew near and it was time to select our leaders for our all-important Senior year. As Seniors we have had many problems to solve as the leaders of the school. One of our greatest difficulties has been the increased enrollment. We saw the institution 01 the car check on campus and beginning of the P, A. L. Y. Club. The Senior Party, “Blast of ’56 , took place in October and proved to be a lively affair. In May the Senior Class sponsored the Senior Ball, ’’Fantasia , which will long be remembered by all. And now the traditional Senior Week is upon us with the exams, Senior Picnic, Commencement Formal, Commencement Exercises, and Grad Night with Ray Hackett's Band. Upon leaving Paly High the Class of '56 will now continue its education, enter the service, or enter the business world, but we will long remember our years at Paly.
