U I I 1 i I P I Il I 7 ll I 1 - Y A Q SWIMMING The Browns gained swimming honors for fhe fourfh consecufive year. When fhe feams were or- ganized by manager Barbara Beaver, fhe Green feam was abandoned because of fhe lack of members. Two sporfs days were held wifh Sequoia. A wafer polo game climaxed fhe very success- ful season. Capfains were Beffy Belle Smifh, Paf Schofield, and Marjorie Norby of fhe Brown, Blue, and Maroon feams respecfively. Paf Schofield, Bip Biship, and Muriel Helliwell were a few of fhe besf swimmers. HOCKEY Thaf Charloffe Ross managed hockey very ably is shown by fhe succession of vicfories over Bur- lingame, Casfilleia, Jordan, and Sequoia. The Blues dribbled fo vicfory in a fasf game wifh fhe Greens. Afhlefic Senior Alice Love'H' swung a mean sficlc, as did Kiki Lenfos, June Howell, and Evelyn Anderson. Capfaining fhe A feams were Barbara Marrow for fhe Blues, Maxine Russell for fhe Greens, Barbara lllderfon for fhe Browns, and Evelyn Anderson for 'rhe Maroons. SWIMMING-Top Rows J. Sturtyvant, J. BASKETBALL The baskefball season was capably handled by Laurel Freeman. Alfhough +he pluclcy Greens foughi hard, fhe Blues were vicfors in fhis year's fussle for fhe championship. Maxine Russell played well for fhe Greens, capiained by Eleanor Nichols. Barbara BriHon, guard, was an assei' +o 'I'he Maroons led by Doi Norberg: Rufh Ogren and Shirley Siuari' cap+ained fhe Blues and Browns respecfively. The games wifh Mounfain View and Cas+illeja were faken by Paly. BASEBALL As +he furnoul' for baseball was comparafively small, +he reams were divided in+o fwo groups, combining fhe Blues and Maroons and ihe Browns and Greens, capfained by Marjorie Mel+on and Lee Malinoff respecfively. A new backsfop and new diamond lines were supplied. The play- ers chose soffball rules and fhe smaller, harder ball. An evening was speni' in San Francisco wafching a big league game. Mariorie Melfon, Ru+h Ogren, and Ruih Kruse were 'rhe besi play- ers of 'I'he season. 87
