T 'f' enior KLM Afdfory As we think of graduation drawing nearer, we hear everything from I wish I were a freshman again to Thank goodness I will soon be out but when we do stop to think that there may never be a time when we will all be together again, it is sort of sad. On September 4, 1956, 76 Freshmen entered the portals of Palmyra High in the arch of gaining a better education. On September 11, we held our first class meeting, at which time we elected our sponsors Mrs. McClain and Mr. Ledbetter, and the following officers: President, Alan Luckeg Vice-Presidentg Bobby Zollerg Secretary, Judy Franklin, Treasurer, Sharon Lumpeg Reporter, Sherol Hinds: Student Council Rep- resentatives, Reba Wagner and Richard Ledbetter. On September 25, we were initiated by the sophomores, and on October 23, they entertained us. Our class was represented in the football crowning by Sharon Lumpe and Shirley Meyers who were chosen by the football squad to attend the Queen. The F.F.A, boys chose Laurinda Bringer as freshman Barnwarming attendant, and at the annual Basketball Tournament Judy Franklin represented the class as attendant to the Queen. In September of 1957, 65 entered the doors of P.H,S. as bright and shining sophomores. We chose Miss Peters and Mr. Hoffson as our sponsors, and the following officers: President, Dorothy Stuhlmang Vice-President, Del Colemang Secretary, Margaret Baxter: Treasurer, Carol Comstockg Reporter, Judy Egerg and for our Student Council Representatives, Judy Franklin and Howard Disselhorst. The first event for us was the initiation of the freshmen, and a little later on we gave them a party. In the Homecoming Parade our float with the slogan Keep Kool They Kent Beat Us won third prize. Our attendants to the Queen were Reba Wagner and Dorothy Stuhlman. At the annual Christmas Dance Judy Eger was our Key Club attendant. Our Barnwarming attendant this year was Sharon Kespohl and our attendant to the Basketball Queen was Sherol Hinds, This year 66 entered the doors of P,H,S, as Jolly Juniors with our sponsors Mrs. Ellis and Mr. Ledbetter, and the following officers: President, Kenny McGlothlin: Vice-President, Marion Saunders: Secretary, Judy Franklin: Treasurer, Reba Wagner: Reporter, Margaret Baxter: Student Council Rep- resentatives, Marilyn Meyer and Charlie Johnston. Sergeant-at-arms Don Hevel. Delbert Coleman was chosen Student Council Vice-President. We were proud of all our hard workers as we went over our goal on magazine sales and cleared S551.39, which helped us on our prom. Our leaders were: Group I, Margaret Baxter, Group Il, Dorothy Stuhlman, and our over all chairman was Judy Franklin. Our theme for our prom was Alaskan Ice Palace which was decorated beautifully in white and gold. We danced to the music of Maurice Menge after a delicious meal. Our junior play was The Incompleted Pass which was very successful. Our attendants to the Queens were: Football, Marilyn Meyer: Basketball, Carol Comstock: Key Club, Sherol Hinds: Barnwarming, Sharon Kespohl. Sharon Kespohl was chosen by the faculty to attend Girls' State, and Charlie Johnston to attend Boys' State. Then came our last year at dear old P,H,S, Our sponsors were Mr. Macias and Mr. Looney, We elected the following officers for the year: President, Sharon Kespohl, Vice-President, George O'Brien: Secretary, Reba Wagner, Treasurer, Dorothy Stuhlman, Reporter, Charlie Johnston. Student Council Representatives were Judy Eger and Howard Disselhorst. Margaret Baxter was elected Searchlight Editor with Dorothy Stuhlman as the Assistant Editor and Sherol Hinds Business Manager. Kenny McGlothlin was elected Student Body President. Our Homecoming Float, Let's Lick'm won second prize. Dorothy Stuhlman was elected Football Queen by the Student Body with her attendants Sherol Hinds and Judy Eger. Due to the bad weather, Dorothy was 'browned at the dance that followed the game. We were very proud of Sharon Kespohl who was chosen Barnwarming Queen with her attendant Laurinda Bringer. She was crowned at the annual Barnwarming dance given by the F,F,A, boys, Judy Franklin represented the senior class at the annual Key Club Christmas Dance where she was attendant to the Queen. At the annual Basketball tournament Sherol Hinds was crowned Queen. Carol Comstock was her attendant. Margaret Baxter was elected Searchlight Queen and Don Hevel King. Their attendants were Dorothy Stuhlman, Sharon Lumpe, Kenny McGlothlin, and Richard Ledbetter. The senior play, Happy Daze was very successful and we were very proud of it. Finally came along Baccalaureate, Commencement, and our senior trip. Our trip took us to the southern states of Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and others. We, the Seniors of '60 sort of feel a soft spot in our hearts for the dear friends and teachers we will never forget, and the fond memories this book holds for us.
