Senior Class Ifstory It was back in 1955 that 77 of us first entered P. H, S, Although we were a little bewildered, we soon got into the swing of high school life. We chose Mrs. Ellis and Coach Ledbetter as our sponsors and elected the following officers: President, Mike Well, Vice-President, Maurie Saffarrans: Secretary, Charlotte Haerr: Treasurer-Reporter, Marie Mengeg Student Council Representatives, April Phillips and Charlie Bross. Marie Menge and Barbara Hackworth were chosen as Football attendantsg Emily Becker was Basket- ball attendantg and, Barnwarming attendant was Maurie Saffarrans. Shirley Harris won the Lovegreen Award for the student who improved the most in English during the year. One of our Freshman days, never to be forgotten, was the day of our initiation. Our .float won third prize in the Homecoming Parade with the theme, Iron 'em Out, Press 'em Flat. The next year, 1956,was abig one for us as Sophomores. That year our class was led by these officers: President, Charlotte Haerr, Vice-President, Don Hoerrg Secretary, Marie Mengeg Treasurer, Maurie Saffarransg Reporter, Mike Well, Student Council Representatives, Faye Yackley and Jim Wesley. Miss Haerr and Mr, Hoffson were our sponsors. Linda Durham and Marie Menge were our Football attendants, April Phillips, our Basketball atten- dant, and Karen Disselhorst, our Barnwarming attendant. Our candidate for Key Club Sweetheart was Marie Menge, and Maurie Saffarrans was chosen to go on the Sophomore Pilgrimage. Initiating the Freshmen was a revengeful experience, but we made amends by entertaining them with a party. Again our Homecoming float won third prize with the theme, We Chews All But De-Feet. As Jolly Juniors we elected the following officers: President, Charlie Bross: Vice-President, Emily Beckerg Secretary, Bonnie Gottrnang Treasurer, Kaye Eger Frankenbachg Reporter, Phillip Porterg Student Council Representatives, Karen Disselhorst and Don Hoerr, Mike Well was elected Vice-President of the Student Body, Our sponsors were Mrs. Ellis and Coach Bolch, Attendants to the Queens this year were: Football, Marie Menge and Maurie Saffarransg Basketball, Kaye Eger Frankenbachg and, Barnwarming, Faye Yackley. Our over-the-goal magazine sales made us feel like a really successful class. Our leaders for this project were: Girls' Chairman, Faye Yackleyg Boys' Chairman, John Bartong and, General Manager, Maurie Saffarrans. Other big events of the year were the selection of our class rings and, of course, our Prom. Our beautiful Outer Space Garden was way out to say the least. Music was furnished by Junior Musolino's orchestra. Professor, How Could You? was the title of our Junior Play under the direction of Mrs. Cramer. This year our float, titled We'l1 Steam Right Thru Their Line, won second prize in the Homecoming Parade. Then came the big year--our last at P. H. S. Mike Well was elected President of the Student Bodyg and, our class officers were: President, Dick Disselhorst: Vice-President, Ingrid Hoderleing Secretary, Linda Durham, Treasurer, April Phillips: Reporter, Phillip Porter: Student Council Representatives, Bonnie Gottman and Jim Church. Charlotte Haerr was chosen as Searchlight Editor with John Barton, Assistant Editor and Emily Becker, Business Editor. Coach Macias and Mrs. Maize were our sponsors, Oiu- Queens and Senior Attendants were: Football Queen, Marie Menge, and attendant, Maurie Saffarrans: Basketball Queen, April Phillips, and attendant, Jane Krekemeyerg Barnwarming Queen, Faye Yackley, and attendant, Karen Disselhorst, Mike Well and Bonnie Gottman were chosen Searchlight King and Queen, Their attendants were Dick Disselhorst, John Barton, Linda Durham, and April Phillips. Emily Becker was chosen Key Club Sweetheart. One of our biggest events this year was the publishing of our Searchlight, of which we are all very proud. Our Homecirning float won second prize in the Parade with the theme, When We Blast, McCooey Can't Last. Our play was another successful event. Finally the long awaited month came--and with it came our Senior trip to Memphis, Tennesseeg Baccalaureateg and the night of Commencement. We, the Class of '59, leave P, H, S, with regret, for we know that we are leaving behind four of the happiest years of our lives.
