K We, the Seniors of 1953, would like to thank the boosters of our school, without whose help it would have been impossible to publish our annual. To thcm, wc dedicate this hook in hopes that this little bit of recognition will help show our appreciation. Ammaazmum QS -51: tvu wh , 11, XI g xl .M 'S- ' 55 gi:--:f f Zend Albert Durand Lloyd Erwin Clifford Faxon President Clerk Treas. I. W. Well Kenneth Cissna Arthur Akerson In past years we have asked the president of the board to write in this space and we have enjoyed having them participate, however this year we are going to depart from this in order to express our appreciation to them for the many things they do for us. Each month they spent many hours here for which they receive no re- muneration. It is because of their forward looking policies that we are able to have a progressive, up-to-date school of which we may be justly proud. A school is only as progressive as the people who are in charge of its policies and as long as Palmyra Schools are in the hands of such capable people we need have no fear that our school will not excel. Swpewfzfemfenf G. W. Cummings As we live among people, we are so close to the field of action that much of the value and beauty of human lives around us is obscured by the Weaknesses of human nature. As distance and time separates us the real values of a person are rediscovered and friendship blossoms into its full beauty which can only be expressed by a poetic genius. May, as we turn the pages of this book in the near or distant future, the pictures bring a profound realization of the personal worthwhileness of all our friends. William Speak My first year at Palmyra High School has been a wonderful experience, with a wonderful group of students. I hope that as we look and think through the pages of this book our hearts will How with kind recollections of a happy year together. Slircfenf game!! Roger Feaster Sonny President Student Body Vice President Student Body As President of the Student Body, I Wish to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to the Student Body, Faculty and School Board for their sincere co operation in making this school year a great and profitable year for everyone. It is my hope that as you go through each page of this annual, it will bring back prec- ious memories of your classmates, teachers, and good times you have enjoyed While attending Palmyra High. Speaking for the entire Senior Class, we all regret leaving old P. H. Roger Feaster scored the lone Panther touchdown. On September l9, the Panthers met the Shelbina Indians whose spread for- mation won for them, 20-0. ln their third straight home game, the Panthers defeated an undefeated Cen- tralia team hv a score of 12 to 7. In a well-matched game, the Panthers fought them to a 7 to 7 tie. The Palmyra touchdown was scored by Duane Schwada on a pass from Feaster, who scored the extra point. On October 24, the Panthers jour- neyed to Mexico to meet the Bulldogs, who showed a strong offensive in long touchdown runs. The final score was 31 to 6. Roger Feaster scored the Pal- myra touchdown. ln their biggest upset of the season, the Panthers met the Fulton Hornets, at Fulton. Don Bestman scored the first touchdown on a pass play.
