ln September, 1948, forty-one freshmen walked through the doors of P. ll. S. for the first time, in hopes to find many happy and worthwhile days. At our first class meeting, we elected Mrs. Schuekenbrock and Mrs. Brown as sponsors. We will all remember the day of initiation and also the day of the llomecoming and how happy we were when we won first prize on our float. ln September, 1949, forty-three students began their second year of high school. VVe were guided through this year hy our officers and class sponsors, Mrs. Noland and Mrs. Allen. We were lucky enough to win first on our llomc- coming float again this year. jim Losson was selected to go on the Sophomore Pilgrimage to Jefferson City. In September ,l95O. forty juniors began their third year at Palmyra lligh. Our sponsors were Mrs. llarris and Mrs. Pierre, who helped us successfully through the year. One of our big events of this year was a riotous three-act com- edv called Cone With the Girls, which was a wonderful success. Lauretta lloerr was chosen to attend Missouri Girls' State at Fulton, and joshua Bridgman, to at- tend hlissouri Boys, State at Boonville. The next big event was the annual Ir.- Sr. Banquet and Prom held on the 17th of May. The theme, Kentucky Gardens, made beautiful surroundings to Maurice Menge's music. Everyone really worked very hard to make it the success it was. In September, 1951, forty seniors enrolled in old P. fl. S. for the last time. VVe elected Mrs. Maize and Mr. llager as our class sponsors. Our officers were: President .. , . . cc, . c.. .nn .- ec.. ...E joshua Bridgman Vice-President . . . jim Losson Treasurer - . . . ., Delores Bremlner Secretary ,,,,uc,ct. lo Ann VValton Reporter c,..c.,,c, Marilyn Cardhouse Student Body President . Dale Cates Student Council , Tom llorton Jo Sutterfield The Searchlight was the biggest project of the year. VVe elected lsauretta floerr as Editor and llelen Lehenhauer as Assistant Editor. VVe won first on our float for the fourth consecutive year. Other highlights of the year were the Senior Play, the Senior Carnival, the lr.-Sr. Banquet and Prom, the Senior trip, and last but not least, the most worked for days of all, Baccalaureate and Commencement. The Seniors of SZ have been very outstanding in all school activities and have proven themselves to be capable of many worthwhile things. We leave our school with many fond memories that will find a place in our hearts forever. as four of the happiest years of our lives.
