This enrich- ment for us has been embellished by our president I l s who has seen fit at all times to make provisions for us to practice honesty, dignity, courage, scholarship, culture and religion. From Boston, Miss Crosson, you have brought a little bit of New England to the south; thus giving us fundamentals which will possibly evolve into missiles of success. Living up to the standards you have set is our desire; being prepared for 1972 is our goal. Because our interests have always taken precedent in your heart, we dedicate to you, Miss Crosson, our 1966 PALMERITE. IN MEMORY OF OUR FOUNDER (taken from plaque on her grave) Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown June 11, 1883 January 11, 1961 Leader of women in their quest for finer and more productive living-mentor, by her writings-of those seeking to live more graciously-by her eloquence in- spired youth to nobler achievements-by her vigor of mind and force of character championed for a. disadvantaged race in its striving for human rights and adult responsibilities. She gave 58 years completely of her unique energies and talents to the building of the institute, from its humblest of beginning in old blacksmith shop. Her vision, dedication, singleness of purpose and undaunted- Faith made this school possible in her native state-North Carolina. May her mem- ory in turn lend inspiration always to this place and its people. Atlanta 11, Georgia JA2-6924 923 McDaniel Street, S.W. Atlanta 18, Georgia MU8-1880 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Preparing the 1966 Palmerite has, indeed, been a task for the chosen staff; however, bull dog tenacity, self determination, and hard work have been the intrinsic motivational factors that made Aaronia Humphrey, Suzette Thompson, Cartheda Taylor and Charlie Pratt say, Keep on until the job is finished. However, this alone would not have been enough had it not been for such outstanding benevolent efforts as those represented by Diedre Ferguson who brought in the largest number of ads. Not only did intrinsic motivational factors and the benevolent efforts of interested persons play a major role in this quest for success and pro- ductivity, but also the photographic talents exhibited by Mr. Harris, to whom we say, Thank you . ' vV EDUCATION ALMA MATER Fair Palmer thy sons and daughters give cheer While their voices with rapture do thrill Thy message so sweet shall forever echo Its harmony o ' er vale and hill; Fair Palmer the pride of each rural home Thus planted on soil all their own; Where the briar and the cactus once flourishing grew Stands the tower of wood and of stone Fair Palmer, thy children with fervor still sing Thy praises o ' er mountain and lea; Thy light into darkness forever shall shine While the race pays its homage to thee; Each year as we come, new trophies we bring; At thy feet we will gladly lay down Till the stars in the heavens, each glitter- ing gem. Lend glory to bedeck thy crown. The Old Landmark Campus Belltower MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION As the hour slowly comes for the class of 1966 to depart from Palmer Memorial Institute, we look back with mixed emotions -happiness, joy, and sorrow. We gratefully thank our faculty and staff who have provided fundamentals for our educational and character development. To Miss Crosson, who through inspiration and understanding has perpetuated the heritage of Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown, our founder, and to all others concerned, The Senior Class says, Thank you .
