The editors and staff of the 1962 Islander wish to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. William S. Layton, who has served this School faithfully for ten years. During that period, he has taught grades five and six in the Middle School as well as serving as Head of the Middle School from 1953 to 1957. In September of 1957 he was appointed Assistant to the Headmaster. Along with administrative duties, Mr. Layton taught English and Music Literature in the Upper School. He has in the past been director of the glee club, and for the last four years, he has been a strong force in yearbook activities. It is because of his kind interest and unstinting service to our School that we sincerely wish to show our appreciation and gratitude.
