This theme was chosen because of its beautiful connotations, and because the variety and color of the various scenes and settings provided a wealth of inspiration for illustrations. Shakespeare is endlessly quoted by writers and speakers of all sorts and in various circumstances. Newspaper editorials are headed by such quotations. Politicians and public speakers use his words constantly. Books carry his lines on their title pages, and novels and plays are given titles from his works. In one year seven different books appeared, each with a title taken from one short speech in Macbeth . No other writer in the world is so frequently quoted. Thus the Galleon staff joins the many who have drawn inspiration from the Poet of Avon. an6 S %. i Faculty A. jyiore IS thy h xz ihati trjore than all Ciati pay Blackcih DR. JOHN I. CARMEN ARTEMIO MONTOYA Mr. Montoya ' s dynamic personality has left a lasting impression upon those who knew him as a friend and teacher. He always had time for a cheerful greeting, a word of encouragement, or a bit of friendly advice. At all times he was ready with an anecdote which could pro- voke either a thought or a chuckle. To those of us in his classes he was an extremely patient and understanding guide through the mazes ever present in the Spanish lan- guage. Palm Beach Junior College will miss this faithful, loyal Spanish-American educator who has done as much as any other single person for those who have passed through the portals of this college. To Palm Beach Junior College in September, 1954, came the ambitious class that was destined to be the last to graduate from the college ' s temporary home in Lake Park. Embarking upon a new phase of learning, these incoming fresh- men found Palm Beach Junior College warm, receptive, and encouraging. Lead- ing the aspiring class through the first year of college were President Norman Kreiser, Vice President Katherine Williams, Secretary Barbara Johnson, and Treas- urer Lynn Wagnon. When Kathy, after departing from PBJC, entered matrimony, a new vice president. Tommy Stephenson, was elected. Freshman projects in- cluded the co-sponsoring of the choirs of Palm Beach High School for an assem- bly and the Freshman-Sophomore Banquet at the Coral Beach Club honoring the Class of ' 55. To guide the Sophomores through their reigning year at J. C , as they affec- tionately call their college, the Sophomore Class elected the following officers: Norman Kreiser, president; Bill Brown, vice president; Bonnie Carney, secretary; and Pat Klein, treasurer. Though the Class of ' 56 did not have access to the modern facilities of Palm Beach Junior College ' s future permanent home, each member appreciates having the privilege of being a part of Palm Bach Junior College ' s history. The halls of PBJC have been filled all year with the largest freshman class the college has seen at its present location in Lake Park. This class has been dubbed the Jubilee Class by Dr. Leonard because it will be the first class to graduate from the permanent site at Lake Worth. Eagerly these students look for- ward to their year at the new college and hope to make an outstanding contribu- tion to the history of Palm Beach Junior College. This class is truly representative of Palm Beach County and its surrounding area— from Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Pierce. Elected to lead this Jubilee Class this year were President, Johnny Chris- toff; Vice President, Aaron Glazier; Secretary, Rosanne Kalil; and Treasurer, Jana Vickers. WELCOME PALM BEACH JUNIOR COLLEGE .y On behalf of the citizens of Lake Worth, the City Commission and the President and the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Com- merce we welcome Dr. Leonard and his staff and the student body of Palm Beach Junior College to their new home in John Prince Memorial Park. We congratulate the School Board and the Advisory Board and all of those who had the vision to select a permanent home where the College would have room to expand as the area expands, as we feel within a few short years Palm Beach Junior College will be a four-year institution. If all of us would heed the philosophy of Dr. Leonard and dream dreams and have visions, then the dreams will become a reality as this college is the fulfillment of Dr. Leonard ' s dreams. The future development and beautification, which the County Commission has for John Prince Park and Lake Osborne with sandy beaches and water sports— a future Cypress Gardens of the East Coast— will make Palm Beach Junior College, the most beautiful campus in the State of Florida. Dr. Leonard, may you and your staff continue to educate our youth and prepare them so that they may go out in the world to live as good citizens, win friends and have a successful career. . 5 LAKE WORTH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA Compliments of LAWRENCE W.
