The practices were long and grueling but the girls met their opponents head-on. The Lady Pirates and the opposing team compared strenghts, endurance, and sportsmanship. Always giving the opposition a 'irun for the money meant lots of practice. Practices consisted of the various events such as the four-forty, two-twenty, one-ten, hurdle, high jumps, and discus. The practices were a good warm up for the tension- filled meets, lap after lap. After miles of running, Gale Botzong still isn 't too tired to flash a smile.
