Some Thoughts on Vietnam Dedicated to the American Soldier Why is the American serviceman ordered to defend Vietnam— with his life if necessary? Are American lines at home directly threatened by the Vietcong Communists? No. But our ideals, our Future, our goals, our hopes, and our aspirations are directly threatened in Vietnam by the Communist advance into Free South Vietnam.
