To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life Spinoza I am happy to share this thought with you, the Chamtpions, Class of '81. It has been a special privi- lege or me to work with you, watch you grow, share your jcays and sorrows, and witness your tri- umphs and efeats. All of these experiences are necessary however, in becoming what you are capable of being. I shall miss you sorely, but I know you must move on to the next step in the lad- der cf ife. As Champions, you will have many chal- lenges, for everyone wants to take on the Champs. Meet the challenges, reckon with them in the true Pali Spirit! You have been aware of I the Iranian hostage situation, the Olympic boycott, double digit inflation, registration for draft and local fires and increase in crime. You also have experienced numerous crises while working toward graduation. Your ability to cope with your environ- ment on a world, national, local and personal level is your most important learning experience. Despite all the negative aspects that have confronted our school and our school District during the school year, this outstanding Sen- ior Class has risen: to the occasion and pro- vided the leadership for all the school activi- ties so beautifully recorded in this yearbook. I would like to personally congratulate your Student Body and Senior Class Officers for their excellent contributions to another fine year at Palisades. In my long association with this school, I don't recall any group of elected Student Body Officers who have done a bet- ter job. I know the students join with me in thanking all the teacher sponsors who went ahead with the various curricular activities despite uncertain budgets and late decisions.
