PANTHER Dramatics . Sponsor: H. B. Christianson y On March 15, 1939, the Sectional Declamatory Contest Was held at the Palisade High School. Those of Palisade taking part in the con- test Were: Lyle Enyeart, who rated Superior on his o-ration The Man Who 'Walks Alone , and Dorothy Oswalt who rated average on her humorous reading, Swimming Hole . The One-Act play Bishop's Candlesticks rated Superior with Lyle Enyeart, Wayne Premer, Wilma Bridgmon, Mary Frances Gilbert, Bob Head, Phil Schluckebier and Uthie Vestal as the cast. Lyle Enyeart was chosen the best actor in the contest and Wayne Premer was chosen second best. 3 On March 25, 1939, the District Declamatory Contest was held at Cambridge, Nebraska. Earned a full blue numeral and lettered his Junior year. Jerry Ridnour, Junior, distances, hurdles and relay. Won blue numeral and lettered in his Sophomore year. Robert Head, Senior, sprints, broad jump and relay. Lettered in his Sophomore year and lettered and Won full blue numeral in his Junior year. , Ivan Henze, Senior, excellent distance man. Placed second in mile in the Frenchman Valley and McCook invitational and fifth in the State meet. Lettered and won half blue numeral in his Junior year. Virgil McClatchey, Senior, outstanding man in cross-country having placed fifth in the State in '37 and fourth in '38. Lettered three years and Won a half blue numeral. George Long, Sophomore, distances. Viron Baxter, Junior, high jump, lettered and Won full blue numeral in Sophomore year. Waynie Premer, Junior, Weights. Floyd Boehler, Senior, distances.
