Football season was made very successful by great co-operation between Coach Hood and his football squad. The team was awarded a trophy for their hard and successful playing on the gridiron. ' Some of the members of the squad were awarded special honors. The recipients were: Lyle Enyeart, All-Conference fullback, A11- American honorable mention fullback and an All-State fullback, George Long, All-Conference center, Bob Ward, All-Conference right end. Members who received honorable mention as All-Conference players were: Jerry Ridnour and Ivan Henz-e as ends and Robert Head as half back. . Lettermen in Football were: Bob Ward and Bob Head CC0-Captainsj '35, '36, '37, '38, Jerry Ridnour '36, '37, '38, Lyle Enyeart '37, '38, Verdon Merrell, Wayne Premer, Ivan Henze, Loren Herrick, Perley Butler '38, Uthie Vestal, Verle Post, Tommy Sailors Qminor lettersj '38, Phil Schluckebier QStudent Managerj '35, '36 '37 '38 3 3 ' Palisade scored 312 points against opponents 92. Won 10 games and lost 0. The season ended wtih a percentage o-f 1000.

On Sept. 5, 1938, 21 Freshmen started on their High School careerp They were: Opal Brown, Laureda Carse, Arnold Egle, Don Ferguson, George Corner, Bette Sallade, Durward Phelps, Herbert Brunkhorst, Don Follett, Don Schroeder, Darrol Carse, Eileen Lawless, Duane Bristow, Jean Furse, Dorothy Oswalt, Harry Petsch, Neal Fugate, Duane Carey, Shirley Premer, Eloise Carter and Vonda Graves. On Sept. 12, we held our first class-meeting. Miss Schnitter was made our sponsor. In the second semester Vonda Graves moved to Denver, Colorado. Elsie Gage and Ardith Stewart joined us during the second semester. Elsie coming from Hayes Center and Ardith from Culbertson. , Altogether our Freshman year has been successful and we believe that we were no greener than the Freshies that have gone before us.

Basketball season opened with five lettermen starting the lineup. They Were: Verdon Merrell, Perley Butler, Bo-b Head, Bob Ward Qcap- tainj, and Jerry Ridnour. The boys entered the Frenchman Valley and Class B Tourna- ment. In the latter, they received the consolation trophy for their hard playing on the basketball floor.
