At the beginning of September, 1947, we timid freshmen were introduced to high school ways. Soon after getting started we had a class election. Herman Hammontree was elected president, Doyle Burns vice-president, Larry Fisher secre tary-treasurer, Betty Grim reporter, and Diana Wenrick and Russell Garber were elected for student council members. We have the same advisor, but her name has been changed to Mrs. Koons. Four weeks after school started the sophomores decided it was time to initi ate us freshmen. On initiation day the girls and boys of the freshmen class had to wear their clothes queer ways and be the sophomores servants. That evening the initiation party was held at Helen House's home. The sophomores really put us through!!! After we were initiated we were treated to hot dogs, potato chips and pop. We then played games the rest of the evening. When the basketball season came round the following boys went out for bas- ketball: Bill Rich, Raymond Ritz, Doyle Burns, Eugene Cloyd, Lowell Dill, Dick Mikesell, Herman Hammontree, and Lowell House. Bill Rich made the varsity team. In January, February, and March the high school and junior high had an inter-class tournament. The freshmen boys won over the sophomores by a score of 18 to 12. The freshmen girls lost to the seniors by a score of 15 to 9. We have some honor students in our class. Their names are: Diana Wenrick, Lora Lee Parent, Larry Fisher, and Russell Garber. A party was held at the school in April. Betty Grim--I want to be a housewife. Sally Davis--A beauty operator or housewife. Lora Lee Parent--I would like to be a stenographer. Mary Heffner--Housewife, I guess. Virgie Rehmert--Oh, I don't know. Kay Teaford--Airplane pilot. Patty Lindamood--I want to be a stewardess on Kay's plane. Evelyn Neal--A housewife. Diana Wenrick--Teacher, maybe. Doyle Burns--I'm going to be a farmer. Eugene Cloyd--Get married and farm. Bill Rich--I want to go to college to be a coach. Raymond Ritz--Help dad. Dick Epps--Try to keep out of work. Larry Fisher--Hmm. It's hard to tell but I'll probably farm. Herman Hammontree--I'm going to farm. Dick Mivesell--I think I'll farm. Russell Garber--It's hard to tell. Lowell Dill--I'm going to be a farmer. Lowell House--A farmer or a musician. Harold Laux--I think I'll farm.
